@Chaotica looks great! We aren’t thinking of getting rid of our #Roadtrek camper yet and need seats for Grandkid and Daughter on days out and airport runs. Dogs will use seats the rest of the time for days out.
Only comparable dedicated EV van I can see is ID Buzz and that has the “just a folding back rest” on 2nd row seats problem too (and is too expensive).
I will check how complicated removing middle row seat is when I test drive it 👍

@wheeljack a bit like my recent saga with the #chevy #Roadtrek
It started making horrible new rattles from the mid to rear section of exhaust under load. Much different to the heat shield vibration it’s always had.I naturally assumed the cat was disintegrating and gave the symptoms to my trusted mechanic and he went very quiet.
We got it up on the rams and he had me gassing it, turning AC on and off etc. He was ferreting about underneath for about 15 mins.
Then he told to cut the engine…
-
Oh he’s such a good old boy!
BAM passed his MOT again with no advisories 🥰

Did the now seemingly traditional “Bank Holiday airport run” in the #Roadtrek today.
As much as I love the #e_Niro and dislike spending £100 on fuel it made the whole escapade much nicer as we didn’t have to get 4 people and 2 dogs and luggage in the car and we didn’t need to use the service area toilets so we could stop anywhere we wanted for a comfort break and #Dog picnic.
Today it was on the Pennine Way footpath next to the Windy Hill transmitter at the top of the M62.

@blingoali stop it, that’s like XXX porn for me at the moment 🤣
Outside of the dealership I’ve still only seen one in the wild. (I haven’t been out much recently for obvious reasons).
I’ve been driving the #Roadtrek today and even at 11 mpg it’s so nice to see the countryside from up high. You miss so much of the view in a car.
-
@blingoali oh poor car.
And poorly setup parking sensors are far worse than not having them. I’m a get out and look kinda guy.I should have taken a photo because when I was revisiting the #Roadtrek #CamperVan in to new house driveway avoiding the skip I stopped, got out to check, and was 1cm away from clipping the skip with the passenger side front wing/indicator 😬
My wife told me it was too big to fit and I said there was enough room. We were both right. 😆
-
@Basmitharts he’s not a car but Bam the #Roadtrek
13 years … He’s just so useful, reliable, rugged and expensive to replace
-
I seriously hope these sell well and secondhand ones become available in a couple of years at reasonable prices so I can make a nice dayvan or camper to replace the #Roadtrek
-
… getting all the building work costed out and driving down the price.

House Purchase update.
Well Building Survey of the house (plot) we have fallen in love with, made an offer on etc, is in
It IS OFFICIALLY a #WeirdHouse
It’s self built in 1926 from home made concrete blocks with a small cavity wall construction with water proof render.
He and all his colleagues (nationally) have never seen a similar build.
I wounder if they bought American block making equipment as it’s such an unusual build.
It obviously should put us off but we can’t resist ..
-
He passed! What a good boy! 👍
-
Bam the #roadtrek is in the garage for his annual MOT inspection and service 😬 wish him luck 🤞
Pic from our recent house hunting trip to Lincolnshire.

Another update
We accepted an offer on our house last Thursday & after working a rock festival for the best part of a week, we finally got to view the Lincolnshire coast house we liked the look of today.Small house, big old shed, static caravan for son, on about an acre.
After two hours being shown everything by the owner we shook hands on a deal 😁
So here’s to a couple of months of solicitors & paperwork, & waiting for a new life to start.
& we get a couple of nights in the #roadtrek too
-
@Basmitharts oh! it’s Bam our 🇨🇦 #roadtrek ‘s American brother
I do love big plush vans for long trips -
Weather looks nice over the next few days so we thought she’d head down to visit D’s mum who’s poorly sick…
Feckin’ mice have moved into the #Roadtrek 🐁🐭🤬
Time to clean, renew and declutter
At least they don’t seem to have eaten anything that can’t easily be replaced this time (there was no food in there they just chewed up my expensive lightweight waterproof) and the weather IS nice too 🤷♂️🤣
-
@vwdasher they are both quite big.
The #roadtrek is perfect for staying in for a week or two max.
The caravan is slightly bigger but even so I’ve no idea how son managed to live in it for 9 years and not go (completely) insane 🤯
He’s so happy now in his #LogCabinBuild
-
There has been quite a delay in getting our #LogCabinBuild works finished (about a year) for “reasons”.
But we are now re-starting work and today the old caravan finally left for a new home and Bam the #Roadtrek can take his place on “the drive” -
Oh this is the first time I’ve seen one of Bam the #Roadtrek‘s twins (same age and spec save Bam has leather seats) for sale.
Seems to be in better shape with less paint peal and far fewer mods and bodges. Asking price is about the same as when we bought in 2012.
They might want to push the Canadian 🇨🇦 heritage more 🤷♂️

Propper #roadtrip not #Roadtrek tomorrow and Monday as I’m doing my first long trip in the #e_Niro #BEV #EV because it too cold to go in the #CamperVan
I was gonna wash car the before I left but it is too cold for that too 🥶
I’m gonna seek out as many Sainsbury’s Smart Charge chargers as possible as they are the only ones I’ve had 100% luck with so far.
Wish me luck 🤞🤣
-
Ok #EV #weirdautos peeps, recommendations please.
We don’t think we need 3 vehicles and we are thinking of keeping the #Roadtrek #CamperVan and chopping in the #SoulEV and Qashqai.
Absolutely top budget is £20k so 4+ top spec 30k mile late e-Nero seem the obvious target and we are going to look at one tomorrow hopefully.🤞
Unfortunately X-Power MG4 are still just out of budget (and too big and wide IMO) but is there anything more fun or #weirdcarmastodon that we should consider?
-
Oh did I not post the best automotive spots from our last #roadtrek trip?
Forgot the multiple super and odd hyper car coming the other way.
Here are two Unimog seemingly at different ends or their working lives 👍
#WierdCarMastodon and perhaps #OnlyVans too?

Wales Trip D14 & We are home!
‘2024 Trip to Wales’ https://www.polarsteps.com/MrRob/11774844-trip-to-wales-2024
What a trip!
After 35 years of campervanning I think we have it sussed. No campsites £12 max per night parking. No scary lay-by.Huge fuck you to all the newbie vanlifers who closed off all the wild camp spots to us since lockdown.
Big thanks to the local authorities of Powis & Gwynedd for setting up airs and services points.
& a huge hug to the business that open their car parks and welcome us in. 👍

That Fiat reminded me of this pic … how Fiat (etc) transport the cabs that are going to have aftermarket (usually ALKO) motorhome (and bus) chassis fitted.
-
No idea why, but my post don’t seem to appearing … so I’ll try again.
I’m just trying to show the three fantastic #WierdCarMastodon and #OnlyVans content we’ve found on our travels.
First up was a rotting Midget 🥺
Then all the off-road mini-truck you could ever need 👷⛰️
And today the shortest full size van overcab motorhome I’ve seen. 👍 -
#Wales D6 - on
Sorry I’ve not managed to keep up a log of the trip on here ☹️ as we have been so busy exploring and it seems whenever we stop and relax (and we have done a lot of that too) we don’t have phone service 🤷♂️
Anyway I AM keeping up a full log on Polarsteps if anyone is interested/ bored enough and wants to see it 😉

Wales Trip Day 3
What a day!
Overnighted at Erwood Station
https://erwoodstationcraftcentre.co.uk/
One of my happy places we have used for 20+ years.
It is so nice to see the new owners breathing so much life into the placeThen we headed south to visit “everyone”.
It was both wonderful and sad for numerous horrible reasons to catch up with old friends and family. Thanks to TomTom we made our rounds without holdupsNow parked up outside an aunt’s house and planning a trip to the seaside tomorrow
