In my new blog post, I wrote about Durga Pujo 2026. A Pujo with too many arms and not enough respect for books.

Spent my first 24 hours with the iPhone Duo and just had to talk about it. There's stuff I really love, a couple of things that are driving me a bit mad, and I still haven't taken a single photo on it 😄
If you're curious or thinking about getting one, here's how it's going so far: https://youtu.be/p-RBXEv03ks

Since my #LanguageTool browser add-on stopped working today, because my demo period had expired I decided to run a local LanguageTool server on my #Bazzite machine at home: https://perfectlynormalgeek.com/posts/running-local-languagetool-quadlet/

On my blog, Meticulous Musings, I wrote about the anti-trans law, mentioned above, which prevents transgender Kansans from obtaining accurate identity documents and tells them where they are allowed to pee.

And my #endorsements for the judicial candidates in competitive races in the #NYC general #election: https://harihareswara.net/posts/2026/2026-nyc-general-election-judicial-candidates/
Covering 41 judge candidates across 11 races, but to be updated on Monday when at least one additional Bar Association (LGBT) releases its approvals/evaluations.
Plus some #GovernmentTransparency intrigue about candidate financial disclosures.

Patching my web server for the one PHP app I have on there turned into a couple days worth of messing with NGINX configs, re-making deploy scripts, re-learning Node server stuff, and looking at other web hosting options. I think my setup for this personal stuff is still a good deal and worth having to re-provision my server every few years, despite the headache this time around.
All of my sites are safe and sound (or at least easier to patch going forward). And this time I made sure to update my notes to outline the process.

New Laotou chapter on My Azeroth Life. In Tranquillien he tears down the Twilight's Blade pamphlets, cuts down three of the town's most trusted citizens, and follows Magister Umbric south to the Ruins of Deatholme, where the traitor governor has gone to ground.

Hands down my favorite part of the #DIY #NAS: Texas Linux Fest 2026 is the motherboard. But a close second is the 12+ 3D-printed 3.5" hard drives that I printed to fill up the case.
They don't hold any data, but their price-per-terabyte might actually be superior to actual HDDs!

Part of my problem is that I seem to have waaay more "tricky" unpublished music files than other forum posters. Recordings by me or friends. My kid's piano. Audio extracted from ancient videogames, or from the middle of movie files because I *bought* the soundtrack, but that doesn't contain the movie dialog and sound effects which we're so used to that it sounds lifeless without them. Most of these should not be uploaded to musicbrainz to match against.

Voted for my first libertarian, against a zionist democrat. I’ve always felt that libertarianism is not a complete political philosophy, not having a coherent vision for how a society ought to operate, but rather being contingent on the circumstances of capitalism and colonialism that encourage the atomization of motivated human beings. But surely liberalism is also contingent. And anarchism is likely contingent as well. So anyway I voted for the weirdo.

I’ve just updated my iPhone mini and iPad from iOS 18 to 27. The transparency is largely mitigated but the bouncy animations are still a problem. They make the UI feel slow, the constant shape changing makes it harder to follow the controls and movement happening all over the screen is distracting and confusing. Turning on reduce motion doesn’t hit the spot for me. The problem for me isn’t motion, it’s motion that is dislocated from interaction.
