I've bought soapnuts in the past, but I didn't know how to use them. They are such a natural way to clean clothes, I was really intrigued to read how my sister-in-law's baby wear company in Nepal washes all their fabric using them. And this article tells me how to use them!

Golden Monkey Tea
In my regular tea order (Sencha, Pu-Erh + white teas) I usually get sent a sample I have never tasted.
While I wait for my sourdough whole grain flatbreads to bake, I decided to try this variety I was sent.
I am no tea connaisseur, but this has a lovely mild taste, beautifully sweet and delicate in the first (western style) brew. The tea in the pot is the second brew.

@ellie @tosia The skirts on bikes comment took me right back to a moment on my bike years ago that I wrote about on my bikey blog http://bikestylespokane.com/2012/03/24/the-skirt-scoot-a-key-maneuver/. For a long time I sought the perfect pants for biking (I won't link to the entire *week* of blog posts I wrote on this topic...) but realized I feel far more free and comfortable in a skirt. For me just has to be the right length and not too flowy so it doesn't catch in the spokes. I don't pedal toward crash potential.

Back to Spring
Following on from my last post, where I referenced the fact that I had no longer been seeing the beauty around me, here is solid evidence that I was seeing it. And I was photographing it as I found when I went back through my catalogue. I must have just lost focus in the humdrum of the everyday that takes over our lives. So for a Throwback Thursday (not very far back, admittedly) here is a splash of bright spring colour from our garden. Aren’t these delightful? A walk is always improved by knowing that there is a cat that will be waiting for you to pass by.
This pretty thing sits in her drive (sometimes under the back of the car if it's parked there) waiting for me (?) to pass by on my way home from my walk. She never moves towards me, nor did she back away as I approached her with my camera.

Alfie
For #FidoFriday here we have Alfie. Not our dog and long gone, but those eyes just get you, don't they? He was a miniature #SharPei with a bear coat. This coat is the least common, though it was the one favoured by the #Chinese aristocracy. The peasants had the short haired ones. The bears were the ones first targeted in the cultural revolution, being a sign of great decadence.
