Short video. I've been trying to take advantage of warm dry #autumn weather to get ready for winter. While doing prep work in my woodcutting area, a Mourning Cloak #Butterfly joined me for a bit. It will be finding a place to snuggle for winter, then be one of the earliest butterflies on the wing in spring! also #FallColour has been building- probably near peak now and a great #lichen patch #Alberta #nature #BorealForest #GetOutside

this was a bit of a different sort of poem for me- maybe more emotional, less clear? The first lines came to me looking at the collage after finishing.

The #leaves , clockwise are all Rosaceae, a family with a tendency to good #FallColour Rubus pubescens Dewberry; Comarum palustre Marsh Cinquefoil; Geum aleppicum Yellow Avens- also a marsh plant in the wild, it has made itself at home all over the yard and garden! ##WildflowerHour #NativePlants #foliage -
After a dark and rather tricky hike/walk through the #Ravine by the #Kentville Research Station back in 2021, we came out of the woods to be greeted by this spectacular burst of colour. Lit by the golden hour sun these splendid trees stood out against the stormy clouds behind. I hope it cheers your day as it cheered mine in posting.
