Alginate-spirulina bubble tea, green chocolate with Grasshoppers, spicy cashews with crickets and spring rolls with mealworms. It takes some prep, but we had great fun teaching kids about sustainable protein sources for a tasty afternoon at the MAS museum in Antwerp.

Today, 4 new firefighters started their training to join our local fire service. 3 of them I've seen growing and blossoming since they joined ou cadets at 12yo. The 4th guy nobody knew.
First thing the team of 3 did: adopt the new guy, show him everything an set up a fitness group to stick together during there seperate training schedules at fire academy.
So very proud to have these 4 new heroes join our FFfamily!

AGS wachtrol doorgeven is soms ook 'n beetje vakantie. Collega in Geraardsbergen leverde advies voor de beste mattentaarten en 'n top tip voor de terugrit: Geraardsbergen-Dendermonde via de Dender, dan toch maar op gps via Berlare en Lokeren naar huis.

My bike turns about 12 this year. Time for some updates: new tires, new pedals and new brake pads!
Fun tip: NEVER unscrew anything you don't absolutely need to. Especially not if it is involved in some spring mechanism and not even mentioned in the Blue Book of Bicycle Repair.
(anyway: everything working again. Learned something about the spring loaded bowels of that caliper today.)

Our #FermeScholen project has 4 extra fairies! Bachelor students Ward, Julie, Maja and Anouck started on the lab work for their thesis: they set up their own #fermentations, made a movie plan and discussed the conference style closing event ("We're gonna need a bigger auditorium"). About 40-50 classes of secondary school students are joining for this year's edition, all fermenting peppers and exploring the microbial communities growing in it. Looking forward to so much hands on #microbiology

Zeisles was top! Veel geleerd, nieuwe weirdoes leren kennen, dagje buiten, fijn geluncht en onder de lunch gebeld met 'n lekkend containertje. Zo heb ik mijn zaterdag graag.
Daarna weer energie genoeg voor 'n #verbetermarathon op zondag.

@saiga in onze jaren-'70 rottende betonnen blok was vorige winter de verwarming ook stuk. Deze winter is het er ook gewoon niet warm te stoken boven de 3de verdieping. Dekentjes, sjaals, skibroeken horen bij m'n werkkledij (mijn werk zit tussen bureau en niet geklimatiseerd labo).
Hertoginnedal is niet het enige onverwarmde overheidsgebouw :/

Tussen de soep en de patatten de deelname van de #jeugdbrandweer aan het nationaal defilé op #2107 aan het opzetten. Altijd fijn om te voelen hoe collega's aan beide kanten van de taalgrens dan samenvlokken om 100 jongeren en het Belgische publiek een onvergetelijke dag te bezorgen.
Special dit jaar: een detachement volwassen #brandweer! Die moeten nog veel leren, onze gastjes gaan hen dat eens heel goed uitleggen.
