The extra-long chopsticks you see in Asian kitchens aren't for eating — they're precision cooking tools.
30-40 cm of bamboo or wood. Heat-resistant. Gentle on seasoned woks. Total control for stir-frying, flipping, and plating.
One simple tool, refined over thousands of years.
Sometimes the oldest technology is still the best.

Question for my #EastAsian peeps out there on the Fedi: I’ve used this product a few times with decent results, but there are a couple of things about it that I’m unclear on:
The instructions don’t say how much of the Glico stuff I’m supposed to use. In the box are two sealed packets, each containing a brick with four pieces. I’ve been tossing in all four. Is that correct?
The instructions say to cook all the ingredients, then remove the skillet from heat and put in the Glico cubes and let them melt, but I feel like if I do that the resulting dish is gonna be way too watery. So I toss in the cubes and then simmer the mixture down for a bit to thicken the ‘gravy’. What should the desired consistency be?

CW: Food photos (congee)
Made century egg congee 😋 Traditional version is century egg+pork, but we don't have any pork and my favourite part is the egg anyways, haha. I topped it with some vegetarian "minced meat" (shiitake mushroom with pickled cucumber paste), pickled lettuce hearts, and wheat gluten with peanuts.

Overdosed the #Sechuan oil today. Tasty fried noodles, with a loooong strong tingling lemony aftertaste.

#Shrimp & #Chayote #Stirfry - simple, yummy & healthy dish. I use extra garlic in mine & eat it with steamed rice but it's great on its own.
Chayote is also known as vegetable pear or christophine. Peel the skin off before cooking as it's tough/not fun to chew. A #vegetable that's used in lots of #AsianCooking. Fab source of vitamin C, dietary fibre & potassium.

Watched this late last night, which made me want to whip up some creamy miso-based pasta at an ungodly hour. Haha! Must add white miso to my grocery list for next time.
