He filled the storage vessels with water and 3% acetic acid to mimic the aqueous and acidic foods they might reasonably contain in real life. After storing the filled containers in the fridge or at room temperature for 10 days, the team found millions to billions of #microplastics and #nanoplastics in the liquids. #Microwaving the containers accelerated the process by an alarming magnitude.»

Truly wonderful story about the successful extraction of Husserl's archive out of Nazi Germany --- I feel I should have known this story, but I didn't, and I am glad I now do. The piece has important more general reflections on the role of archives, too. Great reading.
