What does a religion need for you to accept it as your own? Should it go into depth of metaphysical concepts or simply give moral principles/laws that prove understandable/helpful to the everyman? What do you need to truly believe? What is most important in a potential faith to you?

  6. This visit we wanted to offer a bhandara. A bhandara is serving food to the needy as an offering to God or in thanks for good fortune. It is something that is at the core of many Indian religious traditions including #Hinduism, #Jainism, #Buddhism, and especially #Sikhism as #langar at gurudwaras. It is something @dohappybelove saw many times growing up and we wanted to make a small contribution to share our joy and happiness with others

  10. From the "We are Sikhs" facebook page:
"“Over 2,000 years ago, a special Child was born in a humble manger in the small town of Bethlehem. Today, we celebrate his birth as well as his universal teachings of hope, joy, freedom, justice, peace, forgiveness and helping others in need.
Over 351 years ago, Guru Gobind Singh ji was born today in the small town of Patna, Bihar. He gave his life to uphold the values of justice, equality and freedom for all. Because of his founding of the Khalsa panth, Sikhs have a unique identity and a spiritual journey. Without the Guru, Sikhs wouldn't have a distinguished identity and culture - something we are extremely proud of.
As a Sikh, I too celebrate Christmas as these are the same values that we all share. We can improve ourselves and advance our communities by learning from one another and celebrating everything that we have in common instead of focusing on what divides us. In the words of the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji (whose birthday is also being celebrated today), "Recognize the human race as one."
    Happy Gurpurab and Merry Christmas!”

  11. #Gravesend #GuruNanak #Photography #DaysOut #Kent #Sikhism #India I have had an abiding affection for Sri Guru Nanak ever since I arrived in Mumbai on his birthday and was unable to move for 3 days as most of the transport sector were off celebrating!
On a tek issue I do need to know how these photos are coming across + does anyone outside the Mastadon's brain know what the file upload limit is? Buggered if I can find out!
