Per quanto grande e fondamentale sia quindi in noi la differenza tra volere e conoscere, il substrato ultimo delle due cose rimane lo stesso; cioè la Volontà, come essenza in sé dell'intero mondo fenomenico; mentre il conoscere, l'intelletto, che si presenta nell'autocoscienza sempre come secondario, è da ritenere non un accidente dei quella, ma anche opera sua, e quindi ancora da ricondurre, con un giro, ad essa.
