  3. I wonder if @ivory has any magic to properly display my posts if I have the format set to 'markdown' on the instance my account is hosted on?

I seems toots I make from it ar send over as-is and the server then treats them as markdown (and the web frontend properly displays them that way) but #IvoryApp will just strip things like asterisks and underscores withouth applying any formatting at all (links seem to work though)

  4. @ivory @Donmcallister @icecubesapp Great idea! 😁☀️
Perhaps people imagine they already know all there is to know about social media, but I for one always learn a lot from your screencasts. Had to keep pausing the one on #Mastodon to try everything out!

  7. I watched the #IvoryMerchant film of #HowardsEnd again for the first time since it came out, now 30+ years ago! Lots of people (incl. me) got over saturated with IM films at the time but this one WAS great and still is. Just wonderful acting, gorgeous design and cinematography and the oh so involving, braided, narrative of Forster's and his take on class criticism makes me want to return to his other books. @bookstodon

  13. @tapbots #ivoryapp #ivory Guys a question or two….

    1) On my Mastodon account I've got it set the filter languages to only show posts in English. However I do see posts in languages other than English.

    2) Is there any signs of the notifications (in the Mac app) getting grouped (Likes, Boosts, etc)

    Thanks as always.

  14. My Home feed in Ivory app stopped updating. The last post I see is 1 day old. My Local and Federated feeds though update just fine. What could be the problem anyone?

  15. Is there a way in Ivory to stop all Boosts in the Home feed? I notice that I can filter to show only boosts, but not to exclude them 🤔 @ivory

  16. @ivory Sent over a note that since the 15.0 macOS upgrade my #ivoryapp on #macOS keeps incrementing the alert counter (it never resets). Never heard back on my email...so I am not sure it made it to you. Anybody else having that issue? I can temporarily reset it by removing it from the dock, but it will come back to the same counter after any new alerts.

  17. Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara said in an end-of-year speech that French forces will withdraw from the West African nation in January, making it the latest country to weaken military ties with the former colonial power. French troops have been forced to depart from Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, where military-led governments hostile to the ex-colonial ruler have seized power in recent years.#Africa #IvoryCoast #AlassaneOuattara #Frenchmilitary #colonialism

  19. Serious question: why should I use a dedicated desktop app for Mastodon? I'm currently evaluating Ivory but I’m not seeing a lot of benefit beyond just opening the browser.

    Maybe I'm getting old. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  20. Ok, interesting. If you don’t use the ‘share’ button on YouTube, and just copy the URL directly, it embeds and expands perfectly in #Ivory or, I assume, any other client.

Let’s test it with another of my #BertJansch videos.

  24. His real name was David Ivor Davies, and he was born in Cardiff. His father was a tax collector and his mother was a famous singing teacher called Dame Clara Novello Davies.

  25. What is the best gift to give to your friends for Christmas? Well, if you're Ivor Novello, apparently, it's a professionally-recorded meddly of your music, with a Christmas greeting written out! Can you imagine recieving something this beautiful from a friend? Most of these people worked with him as well, so it was probably both friends and colleagues who received it, and, I'm willing to bet, his own mother.

  26. Valley of Song was every bit as wonderful as I thought it would be. It's the first time, though, that I ever saw a Novello play without any of his own songs. Christopher Hassall did such a good job finishing it that I couldn't tell where one man's work ended and the other's began. What really touched my heart, though, is that this took place in Wales, where Ivor was born. More so, was that some of the songs I know as a fact were sung by the Royal Welsh Ladies Choir, and probably by the Novello Davis Choir, both of which were conducted by his mother. It is the closest I will ever come to hearing them, other than one recording I have under another conductor. I almost cried when they sang Ar Hyd y Nos (All Through the Night), which I know they sung and even recorded in 1915 (I don't have it). And of course, there was a beautiful love story, too, as always.
