  1. Okay Fediverse. Now that I’ve made my cap set decision, I need opinions on what base board to mount my inbound MT3 Dancer #keycaps on. Colour, specifically. Obviously black would be a decent choice. Anything else? I thought perhaps wood, like a Filco with a liquid wood Kobo case. Kid says no. I also thought some sort of white, maybe off white. Reds are out, as are pink and green. Hayulp! #MechanicalKeyboards #MT3 #Dancer

  2. Aw man. There have been very few #keycap sets that I’ve daydreamed about owning; #Dancer is one of them. #Drop have a BOGO running on #MT3 caps and Dancer is available. It’s the expected price, $120 - and coming at the tail end of my #mechanicalkeyboards obsession where I’ve already vowed not to drop that kind of $ on frivolous cap sets, I know I’m not going to buy it. Still - two sets for the price of one. Nnnnnnrgh! It’s freakin’ beautiful. drop.com/all-communities/drops

I’m NOT going to. Not going to. Obsessobsessobsess ⌨️🤪⌨️🤪⌨️🤪

  3. After months of using a #Varmilo Sea Melody TKL keyboard with Ivy EC switches and #Ducky SA Cotton Candy cap, which I'd completely fallen in love with, just for fun I went back to my previous favourite keyboard - a Ducky One II Skyline TKL with #Gateron brown switches and SA R1 #Industrial - still, I have to admit, my absolute favourite colorway. I love both KBs. The Ducky is so smooth and easy to type on. People out there without a mechanical keyboard (yet?) have no idea what they're missing out on. Seriously. Buy one. #mechanicalkeyboards #mechkeys

  4. Yeesh. The #geekworm Pi case gets real hot even without much load. Problem is that the BOTTOM gets hot as well. Scared to leave it on my desk. I'm using the base of the #flirc case as a "coaster" until I can figure out a better solution. Real surprised it doesn't come with teensy risers.

  9. Switched out the #RaspberryPi #FLIRC passive cooling case for a #Geekworm armor case, also passive. Wow. Difference in temp is impressive. Running overclocked (overvoltage 4, arm_freq 1900) and idle at ~53°C right now, other case had it at high 60’s. Will be interesting to see how it performs at load. And yes I know active cooling is better. It’s also mechanical, and louder. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  14. Have been running a #Minecraft server here for my kid and his friends, on a #RaspberryPi4B with 4Gb RAM. They say that that's the minimum ram. Buuuuut.. I have several 3B's here, one of which I'd like to repurpose for the task. I get that I should run it off of a separate USB HD or SSD due to lots of writes, and I have one of those. Curious as to exactly how much power I need spare in order to stand up a server that maybe 5-6 people will be using. Worth a shot.. 🤷‍♂️ 👍

Oh. And I have an old #ODROID C2 gathering dust which I might look at for the task. If memory serves, despite being from 2017 the C2 is still more powerful than the Pi4.

  15. @toran @maxmm77 @Zak8022 #Tana does have some good ideas though. Hopefully they will enhance it with 1) a completely free plan, 2) apps that allow it to be useable on a mobile device and a separate desktop client app, 3) no need to be online to view your data, can't always guarantee my laptop is on wifi and 4) import/export of data and data stored locally. It'll be a worthy contender then. Could potentially replace #Logseq and #Dynalist for me.

  16. @Zak8022 Here's an overview video showing how it works (help.tana.inc/getting-started-). When I applied for an invite I had seen a little about how it works, including their concept of "supertags". For right now it looks like all your data is stored on their cloud - I don't have too much of a problem with that for the moment, but what I really need is an app (phone or tablet) for quick, native, access to the data if needed. Offline preferably, with instant sync as and when connected online. I don't think they have a native app yet.

I'm going to need some time set aside to fiddle; but I've got some catching up to do with other stuff over the next few days since I spent the last week at a company meeting on the other side of the country. Will post how it goes soon as I've had a chance to dive in.

BTW I'm a HUGE Obsidian fan. Unlikely Tana or anything else will replace it. BUT Tana could be a good supplement since right now I use #Dynalist for outlinery data and Tana looks quite "outlinish".
