"Rainbow Connection" is a song from the 1979 film #TheMuppetMovie, with music and lyrics written by #PaulWilliams and #KennethAscher. The song was performed by #JimHenson – as #KermitTheFrog – in the film. "Rainbow Connection" reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1979, with the song remaining in the #Top40 for seven weeks in total. As a kid, it started with “Rainbow Connection”, but as I got into my teens, I discovered this batshit fucking movie that not only STARS Paul, but was scored by him as well. The film sent me into a deep dive of Paul’s songwriting, and exposed me to just how brilliant he is.It’s a very odd movie, and so are the songs, and not everybody is a fan. I can’t explain why it made such an impression on me as a teenager, or why it’s stayed with me all these years, but it’s essentially MY Rocky Horror Picture Show.
But I fully understand why people hate it. 😂
I’m just not one of those people.
