Day 11 A drama that kept you riveted in 2024#KillMeLoveMe - I literally couldn't sleep properly because of it. It's an intense show purely because of the great acting of the leads, especially Liu Xueyi.
I suppose it also helps that he looks like this 🤣

That moment when you have to decide what #CDrama to watch next lol. Fortunately Brocade Odyssey is starting today. People don't seem very enthusiastic about it on Weibo, but I have to remember it doesn't matter to me. If the story is good, I will love it. Just hope that it's not an angst fest. Definitely need something happy after my back to back watches of #KillMeLoveMe and #SnowyNightTimelessLove

Finally completed this monster of a #KillMeLoveMe review. It is, to date, the longest drama analysis I've written (9k words!). KMLM is a very polarising drama. Reviewers like AvenueX outright said "don't bother" with it; many were angry Murong Jinghe wasn't as dark and toxic as his novel counterpart. But those of us who love it, love it to bits ... well except for massive parts of the script. So you can say that I have very complex feelings about it. ;D

After #KillMeLoveMe I feel like I can't really watch anything with acting (and gorgeous men lol) that is not of the same high quality.
Which includes almost every #Cdrama out there right now 🤣
I tried to transition to a #Kdrama but it felt jarring.
I guess my mind wants PAIN AND AND ANGST
Fortunately Snowy Night 七夜雪 fits the bill and I seem to like it, so that's something!

I admit that I have given in to the demands of my hormones with #KillMeLoveMe. I mean I thought Liu Xue Yi was already peak gorgeousness in #InBlossom but this is, to quote a Weibo influencer, beauty at a "bullying level". 🤣

After #KillMeLoveMe everything pales in comparison 😅. #TheRiseOfNing - I am just watching out of habit & completion. I just run it in the background while I work. There's just very little logic to the plot and man, that Luo family, talk about terrible luck in choosing wives .... 🤣 And the way everyone just gets over shocking revelation after revelation... Total dog blood plot, yet I find myself dozing off from boredom 😴

No doubt about it, #KillMeLoveMe is a flawed drama. But when you view the drama through a Chinese spiritual worldview, the ending becomes profound and deeply moving. I hope that somehow I'd be able to help more Western audiences understand why some Chinese viewers thought this way about the ending.

Episodes 16-18 were my favourites for #KillMeLoveMe. Many say it's just filler but to me it's essential character building to push our characters to next level. It's also very healing.
PS: I've published my thoughts up to the end of the drama. I'm currently writing a final review. My Kill Me Love Me "review" is a giant, probably the most detailed drama post I've written.
Of course, do read it only after you've watched those episodes.

The benefit of knowing multiple languages is …. If the English subtitles are hopeless, you can try other languages to see if it's better. I suspect these Malay subs were made by an actual human while the English subs were made by a bot with a screw loose.
Fyi, yes I can actually watch these without subs, but as this is a costumed drama, sometimes they use archaic words that I don't understand 😅
I should be less lazy and watch it with Chinese subs but I am tired from an intense day of work, ok? 🤣
PS Drama is called “Towards the Truth”, which you can watch via the iQiyi app. It's actually quite good!

Sometimes, a drama can be bad, yet highly enjoyable at the same time. Shadow Love is such a drama; it's not a great drama, but it's a fun thirst trap carried by Cheng Lei's shirtless scenes.

Ya know, I thought I wouldn't mind #PerfectMatch and thought that the complaints about the drama being misogynistic (from China viewers, mind you!) was just inflated.
Turns out they were right. LOL
The main lead (Wang Xinyue) was very unlikeable in the first 20 minutes of the show, lecturing his cousin's wife of being a bad wife for being "too jealous" because his husband was too flirty with women?
I don't know man, if this is how they introduce love interests.... lol -
Everyone loves a good sword dance! Btw the actor is trained in Peking Opera so knows all the martial arts moves. It's always a treat to see Zheng Yecheng fight in his dramas because he actual knows what he is doing.

Imagine stumbling to the bathroom in complete darkness, and then you realise there's an unusual splotch on the wall, and then you turn the lights on and there's a giant mofo cockroach. Your apartment does not have roaches, but if one does appear it is a MUTANT HELL BEAST THE SIZE OF YOUR PALM.
So you grab insect spray, spray it to death, and it runs to the next room, only for u to slip because you sprayed so much insect spray it made the floor oily and you almost land face first onto said cockroach. Fortunately 🪳 was fast, and you can hear it scrabbling it's last few minutes on earth somewhere in the room, but for the life of me you can't find it's corpse, so you now have the fun task of unearthing its possibly mummified corpse in the bags of clothes and bobs you wanted to donate in the coming days.
And that's how I started my day at 5am today

This will probably come as no surprise to anyone, but I've been back to X because I wanted to get live updates on a certain war in the Middle East, and I now firmly believe that a large percentage of the people there are absolute idiots with an IQ level below room temperature.

Tonight, I watched a big-name writer bully another writer with a smaller presence. Basically, threaten to sue said writer.
I’m done with #Substack Notes. Watching this happen was the last straw for me. If this is how the “best” of Substack behaves, I want out.
I do not want to be somewhere where I’ll be subject to this toxicity or see others being subjected to it.
So, I will no longer be using Notes.
Am actually relieved cos I can now focus on what matters. -
