  1. Have you ever bought an e-book while visiting (in person) a physical bookstore?

I'm mostly thinking of Bookshop and indie bookstores, but you could also buy a Nook edition of a book while visiting B&N, for example.

(Boosts appreciated to reach more readers!)

  11. News Summary: New York Times Drops Reviewer for AI Use; Editors Struggle to Detect AI Writing

In these times when so much in the world seems quite so eyebrow-raising, it can be dangerous to look through the literary news on April Fools' Day. I had to double-check the Guardian's article about the New York Times book reviewer dropped for using AI to write a book review (but a March 31 publication date suggests it's real).

Visit me at my Book Signing at Fair Trade Books in Red Wing

Hey all! I will be selling and signing books at Fair Trade Books in Red Wing, Minnesota on October 11th from 12 to 2 pm.

I will be right in the middle of the book store. You won’t be able to miss me. I will have all my books available, including the newest addition to the Greenland Diaries series.

I visited Red Wing about an month ago, and had to stop by the bookstore (where I picked up a collection of William Carlos Williams poetry). I got to talk with the owners, and they were willing to host me for this event.

I highly suggest you visit it not just for me in this moment, but for the sake of existence itself. It is an incredible bookstore, and it fills you with all the book vibes you can handle. It is bibliophile nirvana.

Again, just in case you forgot from reading above like three seconds ago, I’ll be there on October 11th from 12 to 2 pm.

I will have all my wares for sale. It’ll be a ton of fun. Happy to talk monsters, life, and the bridges between.

Thank you all for the continued support.

  28. Just want to re-introduce myself since so many of you have responded to my posting an article about Texas going after #booksellers #bookstores in an effort to #ban #books. I’m here because I want to be on the record against #censorship, for #FirstAmendment #FreePress #FreeSpeech; for #academicfreedom and the rights of #adjuncts. So welcome and I hope you can put up w/occasional attempts at self-promotion. (I write and occasionally publish stuff.) Peace out.

  29. Fantastic news today that #IngramSpark, an on-demand publishing service and distributor used by many #IndieAuthors, is dropping their setup and revision fees as of May 1! I mean, this is great for those of us already using them, but I think it may be huge for #book #publishing as a whole. Link down the thread:

  30. "This bookstore, for me, is a continuation of the movement, the activity, the interest, so that part will continue. It’s just that this space, and the lease, won’t be around."

So sad to hear Eastwind Books in Berkeley is closing. I used to love going there when visiting fam in SF. Thanks to @iriskwok for this rich and lively account of its history and significance in relation to the Asian American organising, the International Hotel, Third World Liberation Front and more. May the spirit of Eastwind continue in other ways, beyond the space, beyond the lease...
