In the last couple of days, I decided to work on the old #Luanti minigame #QuikBild (not by me originally), a word guessing game. It can be played on A.E.S. Players must build a word, like "apple" and others must guess the word to score.
It’s fun but there are many small and big longstanding issues like a small word list, confusion with word meanings, AFK, bugs, usability problems, and more.
I want to make sure all those old issues will be fixed and that QuikBild improves.

@salixlucida Users need to mass-uninstall #Discord RIGHT NOW. The corporation has proven they are willing to backstab users. Why should anyone believe it won’t happen again?
By using Discord, you’re not just risking your own safety but also the safety of your friends.Discord should be treated as #spyware. ESPECIALLY for #US-based users.
It's sadly not surprising, such backstabbings are common with #proprietary software.

Secret #retro-style #video game tip: #Lix
Lix is a puzzle game where your goal is to guide the walking lix to the exit by giving them abilities like building, digging, blocking, etc.
It’s a #Lemmings clone. And dare I say, the best one I know of.
It has many quality-of-life features like rewind, advancing the simulation by 1 step, etc. There’s even multiplayer.
(Disclaimer: I contributed like 5 tiny levels years ago.)

I urge all developers of #Android apps to NOT pre-emptively obey the new terms of #Google requiring you to sign up for the Android Developer Console.
It looks like Google is attempting a power grab and wants to prevent ALL installations of Android apps without official Google approval; even those installed outside Google Play.
This is an attack on both developer and user freedom and unacceptable.

#Mobile device support for #Lazarr! only existed on paper. It “worked” but was clunky. Until now.
I’m happy to report that I fixed the biggest UI and controls issues on mobile.
The UI now works on smaller screens, and the controls are less confusing.
Short tap = punch/dig/take
Long tap = place/interactBefore, these controls were reversed which I found to be much less friendly.
Also, thanks to #Luanti 5.15.1, performance of the game turned out to take a major boost.

@giacomo The reason why I'm torn on the #HackingLicense is because of Condition 1. It stays I must not use the software "in contrast with the Purpose".
In my layman opinion, this could be read as a restriction to "use the program for any purpose" (Free Software Definition), or as a "discrimination against a field of endeavor" (Open Source Definition).
This reminds me of the debate whether free software licenses should forbid "evil" and the answer was no.

@giacomo I am dying to know what OSI's and FSF's opinion on the #HackingLicense are and whether it will get an "official stamp of approval". FSF seems to have not given an opinion on it yet, can't find what OSI said about it.
Why do you think it counts as #FreeSoftware license but not as #OpenSource license?
I find the license amusing, it apparenly grants me the right to EVERY copyrighted work? 😂 If only it were that simple …
I'm not sure if I like or dislike this license tbh.

Some #FreeSoftware devs are unironically the BIGGEST advocates for #GitHub; it's so bad they have mutated into #Microsoft's unofficial #marketing department.
Most pro-GitHub advocacy that I've been exposed to in my life does not come from #Microsoft marketing, but from fellow free software devs.
Bizarre.

It's honestly humiliating to see how many #FreeSoftware projects are still so ADDICTED to #GitHub.

Just completed the first "real" level for #Lazarr! where the new filter glass pane comes into action.

HELL JUST FROZE OVER!
#GNU #gettext version 1.0 has been released! 🎉
This is a popular translation framework, used by a ton of #FreeSoftware.

A very annoying myth that just won't die is "#SocialMedia is the ultimate evil and 100% a danger for children."
This myth is a justification for national Social Media bans for youth, like in #Australia or (soon?) #France.
This narrative ignores the positives of social media. The actual effects of social media are … complex.
#TechDirt writes on how the panic is all #bullshit and how the #science paints a different story:

IMHO the most disturbing thing I've learned about the #Holocaust is that it was done by "regular" people. People with jobs. People with families.
It could have been anyone! Which means that it (or something similar) could happen AGAIN if we're not careful. The last direct witnesses to the #Holocaust are dying out.
