@blenderfox @homelab I need to poke at them both a bit more before deciding. I only started using k8s in my homelab relatively recently when I finally took at look at #TalosLinux.
#Talos made all the annoyance of having to maintain the VM k8s is running on go away, and it's forced me to have better habits at home about checking everything into git since I can't just ssh into the VM for maintenance.

Found this nice tui for kubernetes this weekend - https://github.com/janosmiko/lfk
One of the things I like about it is that it has #argocd specific logic - you can use it to alter argo settings and do other things you might otherwise do with the argocd command line tool
Looks pretty neat, especially for #homelab @homelab #k8s users
-
Saw this on slack - https://github.com/Lucaslhm/Flipper-IRDB
It's a collection of codes for Flipper Zero so you can use it as a remote control.
I'm tagging in IOT and HomeAssistant because the codes could be converted for use there.

Wrote a new blog post - this one's about setting up git-generator #ArgoCD ApplicationSets.

I made a helm chart for running Eclipse Mosquitto in a k8s cluster for my Home Assistant and wrote a blog post showing how to configure and install it.

Yet another reason to not enable passkeys anywhere.
https://blog.timcappalli.me/p/passkeys-prf-warning/
TL;DR - If an idiot website uses your passkey to encrypt your data, losing/deleting the passkey will almost certainly mean losing your data.
Of course we should all be backing up our stuff locally instead of trusting cloud services, especially for irreplaceable things like pictures and movies, but lets be real, the average user doesn't.

@jortmentink I had a similar experience when I finally moved #homeassistant off of docker to a #HAOS vm on proxmox.
Totally painless and took me < 30m, most of which was verifying things because it went so smoothly I was suspicious 😃

I don't do front-end so this isn't useful to me right now, but in a former life I worked pre-press and I'm amazed at what you can do with #OpenType fonts.

Wrote a post about setting up sops and the sops-operator on a #homelab #kubernetes cluster

Last month I switched from Google Workspace to proton.me for hosting email for my domains.
It went smoothly, but if you're considering it, here's some things I wish I'd known when I was starting to move my old email.
https://unixorn.github.io/post/2025-12-26-advice-for-switching-to-proton-hosted-email/
TL;DR Proton is focused on privacy and cheaper than Google Workspace. And you get a VPN too. And they're a non-profit, so you don't have to worry about them selling your data later to prop up their stock price.

Published a new recipe for food I make for my #neocaridina #shrimp

They love the stuff - here's a pic about 2 minutes after putting some in my blue tank

Wrote a post summarizing the recommendations I give to new #neocaridina shrimp keepers

I know that anything with aquarium on it costs more, but the aquarium tax for snowflake food is ridiculous. I've been keeping shrimp for less than a year, so maybe other shrimp keepers already know about this cheap alternative to snowflake food, but in case you didn't -
After watching some YT shrimp keeper channels, I've been feeding my neocaridina colony snowflake food a couple of times a week. They like it and I was almost out, so I was looking at the bag and realized it only has one ingredient - soy hulls. I paid $12 for 3 1/2 ounces of snowflake food.
I thought there must be a cheaper source, so I looked online and found soy hull pellets for mushroom cultivation were 10 pounds for $20. The pellets are exactly the same size as the ones in the snowflake food bag, and my colony eats them just as eagerly.
Snowflake food: $3.70 an ounce.
Bulk organic soybean husks: $0.13 an ounce. 28x cheaper.@nanotank @shrimptank @neocaridina #aquarium #nanotank #shrimptank #neocaridina

Released version 1.5.0 of https://github.com/unixorn/lima-xbar-plugin
lima-xbar-plugin works with both xbar and swiftbar to add a #macos menubar item to control your lima VMs and containers.
Thanks to new contributors github/pythoninthegrass and github/deepjia for adding functionality.

Got asked about my #neocaridina #aquarium so I wrote a blog post about setting up a planted #nanotank for shrimp.

So if anyone knows of a tool, preferably macos or linux, that will let me mass delete every photo in Google Photos in a specified date range, please _please_ let me know. -
2/3
An idiot like me would think "Great, I just deleted 12GB, problem should go away"
Except... now when I go into the photos directory, it tells me "This folder is no longer synced with Google Photos. Your photos are safe in Google Photos"
So now I have to delete thousands of photos via the Google Photos shitty interface.
Good thing they only let me delete 500 at a time, that's super fucking helpful.
-
So Google Photos shows up in my GDrive as a folder. I am getting notifications that I'm at 90+% usage in my account and have all my photos on my Synology.
I go into the folder, delete 5 of the year folders, empty trash.
Of course it's not that fucking easy.

Managed to get a picture of two baby shrimp from the latest clutch in my 5 gallon tank. I'm pretty happy that I've already had two clutches since the tank has only been running for three months.
The focus isn't as sharp as I'd like, I really need to get a macro lens for my phone. Any recommendations?

So far my 5 gallon #shrimptank #aquarium only has a brand new #neocaridina colony, a #nerite and some inevitable bladder snails, livestock-wise.
I want to add fish that are shrimp-friendly and small enough to be happy in a #nanotank. Thinking maybe Ember Tetras or Dwarf Rasboras. I think Neons would be too big, but would love advice from people with more experience.
Whatever I add, I'm going to wait until after I see some shrimplets.

Just saw this on one of my slacks.
https://github.com/yuvipanda/cryptnono
Kills processes trying to mine crypto in your cluster.
Helps make #griftcoin assholes fuck right off and out of your infra.

On the one hand #Microsoft has Windows Defender that blocks keyloggers. On the other hand, they're about to ship a #keylogger and screen logger as part of the OS.

If things that aren't matter are a help, I do the inverse - I have an #S31 (_not_ a S31 lite) that my sump pump is connected to. If the pump runs for more than 10 minutes, I get a notification so I can go down to the basement and see what's going on.
