Going through paper files post-move and found my registration code for ZOC https://www.emtec.com/zoc/index.html -- date on the letter is April 19, 1995. I was using ZOC to dial in to BBSes on OS/2. I paid $92 to register until version 9.99. I had to see if the code still worked, so I installed the latest version of ZOC (8.06.5) on my Mac, tried out the code, and it worked! As a break from complicated sewing (making a silk satin lining and handstitching it into my quilted jacket, which I feel like I have been doing for the past several centuries) I made a mini felt ornament for a friend using applique and embroidery. One of my most enjoyable makes so far this year!
The sun rays are colonial knots using 4, 2, and 1 strand of embroidery floss, respectively. The pith of the orange slices is satin stitch and split stitch. The ornament is lightly stuffed with cut-up fabric scraps.

Watching Brooklyn 99 is one of the few things helping me hold it together right now. It’s so predictable (from a crime-solving perspective*) but still oh so enjoyable. Maybe the predictability is what makes it so satisfying.
It’s like the pop music of sitcoms.**
