Digital Omnibus on AI: provisional agreement reached early on 7 May 2026 — nine days after the failed 28 April trilogue.
Application dates confirmed (Dec 2027 / Aug 2028 / Dec 2026 watermarking), machinery products to sectoral discipline + equivalence clause, new Art. 5 ban on nudifiers and AI-generated CSAM.
Until formal adoption, the original AI Act remains in effect.

AI Literacy: What Businesses Must Do Today

The EDPB has published a harmonized DPIA template — the first pan-European documentary standard for impact assessments. Open for public consultation until 9 June.
Key insight: a clear separation between design risk (processing works as intended but still poses risks) and incident risk (breaches, attacks, misconfigurations).
The design choices are the risk, before any failure occurs.

The European Parliament published a briefing on AI ethics in classrooms (PE 784.573). Strong on philosophy, but missing the connection to binding EU rules and competence frameworks.
My analysis as a data protection lawyer: why we don't need more principles — we need to connect GDPR, AI Act, DigComp 3.0 and eCF 4.0 to protect children in schools.
