guys, please make Email and the Web a safer place and implement WKD - Web Key Directory, if you use PGP anyway. It does not take much time and if you already have a website or server, you can just plunk it on there.

He leído por aquí varias veces que el cifrado de #Proton Mail solo funciona con Proton y NO es cierto:

- Proton utiliza #WebKeyDirectory para intentar localizar la clave pública del destinatario. (https://wiki.gnupg.org/WKD). De forma resumida: #WKD comprueba el dominio del destinatario por si tiene una web y esta tiene un directorio ".well-known/openpgpkey".

-- Si encuentra una clave pública que tenga la dirección de correo del destinatario asociada con su identidad, cifra el correo con ella.

- Si tienes un dominio propio pero no apunta a ninguna web, puedes apuntar al servidor de claves públicas de #OpenPGP.
(consulta "wkd as a service" https://keys.openpgp.org/about/usage/).

- Y sí, esto también funciona si usas un cliente de correo electrónico compatible con AutoCrypt. (Mozilla Thunderbird, FairEmail…).

Por estas cosas, pese a que Proton obviamente ha abusado del marketing, voy a seguir recomendándolo al público general.

O ile zwykle wszyscy chwalimy Jej Doskonałość #WKD za bycie taką koleją lokalną, jaką powinny być wszystkie koleje lokalne w Polsce, o tyle dzisiaj muszę ją niestety z*ebać za wyłączenie automatów biletowych na stacjach. Jest to mimo wszystko dość poważne utrudnienie dla podróżnych a na stronie nie ma ani jednego bitu informacji o przyczynie ani ponownym terminie włączenia automatów.

I’ve set up WKD for all my "public-facing" identities, with both direct and advanced methods working across the relevant domains. I’ve also uploaded all my keys to Keybase, OpenPGP, and Ubuntu keyservers. I even even generated a QR code with the openPGP4FPR URI scheme: https://openpgpkey.accioly.social/

Couldn't the #pgp #encryption in @[email protected] be set so that a user who has not set up their own pgp key can still send encrypted mails to recipients whose key can be retrieved from the #WKD?

I’ve made a small tool for generating WKD directories from OpenPGP keyring files: https://github.com/wiktor-k/wkd-exporter#wkd-exporter

This is a special-purpose tool for doing just WKD key exports. It doesn’t have support for exotic PGP key directories, no agents, no daemons, no moving parts. Single, small binary.

Just in case it’s not clear what WKD stands for, it’s a key discovery mechanism for OpenPGP keys supported by virtually all modern OpenPGP tools.

Czy pociąg taki jak #WKD, który jeździ cały czas po tej samej trasie (z jedną odnogą) mógłby na jakimś odcinku albo na całości tej trasy być sterowany (pół)automatycznie jak londyńskie DLR? Na trasie jest wiele przejazdów i przejść, to fakt. Tam jest potrzebny maszynista. Ale czy np. na reszcie trasy nie dałoby się załączyć jakiegoś autopilota?

I stumbled across Keyoxide today. I gave it a shot, created and uploaded an ASP [1]. Now I have my own profile [2] that verifies some of my identities, neat! Adding my mail throws an error message though. I use WKD to publish my OpenPGP key [3]. I learned that my mail address is therefore already discovered by keyoxide.org [4], can't be used twice as it seems.

One thing I'm missing in all these guides describing how to store one's OpenPGP key in a Web Key Directory (WKD) is that for keys with lot of signatures the key best should be exported using
--export-options export-minimal

to not force an MB size download on the poor person who just wanted to write an encrypted mail.

Yes, that key then won't have the signatures, but I guess a user who uses WKD does not care about that. And if, do --refresh-keys.
