Il Garante europeo per la protezione dei dati (EDPS) lancia l’allarme sulla nuova proposta di riforma: si rischia di permettere ad Europol di trattare i dati di persone non indagate per periodi di tempo indefiniti.
“Non possiamo sacrificare i diritti fondamentali in nome della sicurezza”, ha dichiarato il Supervisore Wojciech Wiewiórowski.
Per l’EDPS, rafforzare Europol va bene, ma solo con:- Limiti chiari sulla conservazione dei dati
- Criteri certi di necessità
- Una vigilanza reale e trasparente

The MEP investigating spyware was keeping his whole life on the phone that got hacked
Pegasus infected the phone of an MEP who sat on the committee investigating it - a real assault on democracy. It also came out that he kept fifteen years of everything on that one phone and missed three warnings from Apple - and that's a failure we have to talk about too.

El EDPS se encuentra entre los 61 firmantes de una Declaración Conjunta sobre Imágenes Generadas por IA emitida por las autoridades de protección de datos de la Asamblea Global de Privacidad.
La declaración responde a las crecientes preocupaciones sobre los sistemas de inteligencia artificial que pueden crear imágenes y vídeos muy realistas de personas identificables sin su conocimiento o consentimiento. Un foco clave es el creciente riesgo de daño a los niños, lo que subraya la necesidad urgente de un desarrollo responsable de la IA y fuertes salvaguardias de la privacidad.

Wer alle Nachrichten technisch scannt, baut eine Infrastruktur für die Totalüberwachung. Heute gegen Missbrauchsbilder. Morgen gegen „unerwünschte Inhalte“. Der EDPS mahnt: klare Rechtsgrundlage, klare Grenzen, keine wahllose Kontrolle. Das ist kein einfaches Technikdetail, das ist eine Demokratie-Frage! „Nur vorübergehend“ heißt in der Politik oft: Für immer. Seit 2021 laufen diese Sonderregeln. Jetzt bis 2028 verlängern? Das riecht nach schleichender Normalisierung von Dauer-Scanning. Der EDPS sagt: gezielt statt wahllos! Notwendig und verhältnismäßig – nicht blind alles filtern. Kinder schützen, ja! Aber nicht alle Bürger unter Generalverdacht stellen.
