I had to fuel up with 20 litres of diesel just now. The price has reached $3/litre compared to $1.68/litre two weeks ago. I wonder how quickly battery electric vehicles are being imported these days.

I headed into town this morning to do some grocery shopping. On opening the door in the carpark I found this uninvited hitchhiker.
It’s a huntsman - it’s not uncommon to find them inside houses.

In this hot, dry spell we see a few more birds than usual coming to drink and/or bathe in one of the birdbaths. Here's a female satin bower bird at the bath, under the vine leaves, outside the kitchen door.

I think this is a scarab beetle (rather than a christmas beetle).
The one pictured was crawling around the concrete floor of our carport last night and is perhaps a Cowboy Beetle.

Peek-a-boo joey.
Photo taken from our kitchen window. There are 5 or 6 female 'roos, with their young, who spend time in the vicinity of the house. The grazing is easy there as I mow to keep the grass down, and thus let fresh, soft, green shoots grow.
