Bent-kneed and blurry-eyed, I crawled across the floor in a desperate search for my misplaced glasses.
From our bed, my spouse called out: "What are you looking for?"
"My glasses!"
With a sad sigh and a shuffle of sheets, they climbed out of bed and marched over. But they slipped the VR glasses over my head without any fuss. "I swear, you're gonna go blind if you keep using these."
"Uh-huh," I mumbled, distracted by the 3D anime hotties.
Inundated with calls, the Support Center worker hustled to keep up and keep customers happy. By her lunchtime break, she was beat.
On her way to the cafeteria, she bumped into her coworker—and her biggest fan.
"Ms. Hydra, how do you manage it?" inquired her awestruck underling. "You're already 30 calls over quota, and it's barely noon!"
Tittering bashfully, she waved off the praise with a blush on her cheeks. "Having three heads helps!"
Dinner Party Plans
The pot of soup was warming on the stove when Lila returned home from work.
"Are we having stew for dinner?" asked Lila to her wife, Sam.
Sam, busy setting the table for their dinner party, paused and looked up from her neatly-arranged napkins and silverware to respond:
"No, silly. We finished Stu yesterday. I made Jack for tonight!"

The Maenad and the Dryad:
The howling of the maenad's bull-roarer pierces the midnight forest, quickening the blood of the revelers and awakening the slumbering dryad. Stretching her slender oak limbs until trembling leaves touch the stars, she dances to the tune of whipping winds and holy ecstacy. Beneath her branches, worship and wonder intertwine like the lips of lovers as mortal and daimon embrace.
