The game mechanic I forgot to use when playing Wo Long that I learned from Nioh is using elemental weapons to apply elements to enemies.
Getting multiple elements applied makes it extra devastating. Human enemies are especially vulnerable to this, and some stronger enemies, you can get all five applied making them extra vulnerable. This is because the other elements will remain applied but only poison will wear off, meaning you just keep applying posing and they'll stay in their mostly staggered/staggering state.

#TheSurge2 slides in just behind #Bloodborne and just ahead of #WoLong on my ranked list of Soulsborn & SoulsLikes.
Really enjoyed my time with it, but there was one too many annoying moments that hindered my experience.
Still, if you like these games then it's a definite recommendation.

Well, I've given it a fair shake. I just don't think #Nioh is for me. Real shame as I absolutely loved what they did with #WoLong last year.
The combat wasn't clicking for me, the level design feels, well like a 7 year old souls-like, yeah. Just not for me.
Goodbye #DanPlaysNioh. It's been a pleasure.

For some reason, my #Xbox #YearInReview included Borderlands 3, which I played on Steam on my computer, not the Xbox? Not sure why that's in there. #WoLongFallenDynasty and #ForzaMotorsport were easily to two biggest time eaters on the console, with #WoLong easily being my favourite, just a good experience.

The level after that, the one at the Hanshui river, has been a fun one, with the thing about having to progress through the boats making it stand out above other levels. The boss, Sun Jian, has not been very difficult, other than the difficulty in parrying his attacks.
#WoLong is a very interesting game. There's not much enemy variety, the controls feel all over the place, the plot is non existent, and somehow I find it very hard to put it down.

Taotie has been the least exciting boss so far in #WoLong. It takes a long time to progress through its phases, and having to do it all over again if you fail was a bit meh.
In any case, I'm happy that I've dealt with it already and moved to the next area.

Yesterday night, after more than an hour of dying and retrying, I finally beat Gyoubu On... I mean, Lu Bu. A very difficult fight for which I had to pump up my morale level a couple of notches and use almost all of my health potions.
The fact that parrying is more or less inconsistent in the game (done with the same timing sometimes it will succeed sometimes not), I had to rely on running away from his spear.

Playing #WoLong this morning I beat Zhang Rang, the clone-spawning wizard.
That boss was not too difficult, but the next stage after that is almost impossible. I've checked and I'm three or four levels below the recommended one for it, so I've gone back to play the handful of sub-missions I have pending (which were basically all of them so far, because I'd been just going through the main story).

Ah, the joys of parenthood... I've been awake since 5am because both my kids decided it was a great time to tell me about random stuff that could have perfectly waited until later in the day today.
I couldn't fall asleep again after that, so I went downstairs and played #WoLong for a couple of hours.

I finally finished #WoLong, more or less. Yay! Here's a minireview for you:
The good:
- Quite a fun fighting system
- Some great boss fights
- Straightforward levels, not so hard to get through especially towards the endgameThe bad:
- Straightforward levels 😄 They started to repeat themselves
- Only maybe 15 types of basic enemies in the whole game
- Boss difficulty all over the placeThe ugly:
- I'm still (still!) salty about how difficult the tutorial boss is

@Eterno People slept on #WoLong but the controls were so responsive in the heat of battle. It was perfect gameplay imo (and crappy story). I think parry windows and flow are a matter of preference. Either their adjustments align more with your own reaction window or not. It was so satisfying to parry in Wo Long but Sekiro never rang with me. Most people surely feel the opposite :)

#WoLong also lets you choose the pronouns for your character, and I don't think there were so many man-babies throwing fits of rage because of it...

One thing I wish more games did? Allow me to select armour and it's aesthetic seperately.
#HogwartLegacy and #WoLong let you do that and it's one of those features that goes a long way to making me feel like the game wants me to enjoy myself.
Don't make me choose between form and function when I could have both.

Oh yeah, I finished #WoLongFallenDynasty on Friday last week (just got lost cause I had to go away for the weekend).
It is actually an amazing game, really has been one of the few games recently to get me really energised, really excited to play it again. It's well worth having a playthrough.
I know it's disappointed some #Nioh fans, but think of it as an amazing onboarding game, as well as a lovely twist on the old formula. It doesn't need to be Nioh 3, it's good as its own thing.

Okay, so the last mission of Part 6 of #WoLong goes super anime when you beat the second of two bosses back to back (there is a checkpoint between them). Kind of cool.
Was also interesting to see the #Xbox (what I'm playing on, leave me be) achievement stats for the bosses. The final fight with Lu Bu had a clear rate of 7.28%, the following boss 6.71%, and then the two bosses of this episode 6.17 and 6.10% People are committed to finishing ifthey get this far, it seems.

So, interesting thing, if you die as part of a trade with a flag defending boss in #WoLong, it still counts. The flag was unlocked and I immediately got credit for 'avenging' myself on respawn at the checkpoint.
I felt like a right idiot for dying there being too aggressive, but I suppose it paid off? He didn't respawn and I did, so a win for me I guess.

Ok, so I initially got very concerned that #WoLong had an Orstein and Smough boss fight like in #DarkSouls, but then they melted. Bit nasty initially, but parry through the big hammer guys attacks, get one critical deflect and hit on him, and he goes below half health and can easily be finished off, making it just a very easy fight.
I don't know if my damage is just too high, I've been doing all the side missions, and nearly maxed gear, but that was too easy.

One of our buddies turned bad after we find out we were fighting/killing our secret buddy.
We are now down two buddies.
This is why we have the buddy system, guys, people need to pair up or this stuff will keep happening.
