Finally finished Lies of P.
Thought it was pretty cool, good atmosphere, loved the Black Rabbit Brotherhood as a boss. Kinda wish the environments weren't so samey, every time I thought (hoped) I'd left the main city behind the game was like "nope, back you go."

Still much more enjoyable than I imagined a game about Pinocchio could be.

I haven't had a blog since HowDoYouSpell.cool died but i can feel a post brewing about Nier Automata vs Lies of P with a brief detour through Tales of Berseria

Thematically, "The Murderous Robots are the Bad Guys(?)"
Mechanically, while Lies of P (and Bloodborne) offer a faster, more aggressive, more melee centric Soulslike experience, they still offer a block button and a stamina gauge and a more measured approach to combat. Every move is a commitment, every button is a risk. There are no mid battle cutscenes, no attack strings. But you can block and you get a limited amount of free healing

Combat in Nier, so far while playing on Hard, operates on a different, singular rule:
Don't get hit.
Restoring health is expensive and even early bosses will one-shot you if you get hit by the wrong attack. You can shoot but you can't autolock (on Hard and above) but getting hit is a much bigger deal than it is on normal.

Iunno, neither is bad, but they want different things. Im still playing and thinking through it, but i know which set of expectations is familiar to me

Btw.: Das Humanity-System von Dark Souls ist noch verwirrender als das "Lügensystem" (Querdenker-Begriff 😁 ) in Lies of P.

Habe gelesen, man solle immer "Humanity" dabei haben, weil das die Stats verbessert.

Nirgends im Spiel wird das erwähnt. Auch nicht was "hollow sein" heißt.

Da ich aber sowieso jedes soulslike mit "Sekundärliteratur" in Form eines Wikis von Fextralife spiele, ist es nicht so dramatisch.

Gut, ich farme jetzt mal Humanity in dem ich 20x die gleichen drei Ratten metzel mit einer 50% Chance, dass die Humanity droppen.

Habe zum Glück noch davon gehört bevor ich in die wirklich schweren Gegenden gelaufen bin.
