Because I am as predictable as you'd expect, I spent the day kayaking and snorkelling in a marine reserve in Tīkapa Moana, the Hauraki Gulf.
Saw a ton of snapper, various other fishes which I probably need to learn to identify, sea urchins, tiny crabs and one beautiful and quite large stingray (probably a cownose stingray).
Hard to say who was most excited between the Little One, my partner and me.

While not lacking criticism, the Hauraki Gulf Protection Act is coming into force this weekend.
It is a net positive, despite its shortcomings, but much more work needs to be done to restore the mauri of Tīkapa Moana, the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park.
