Galaxy Tab S9 and Tab S8 Series receive August 2026 Update in more countries

Samsung have revealed what vulnerabilities the August 2026 security patch has fixed earlier, as you can see here. This kind of update ensures that your phone, your tablet, and other devices become more secure as updates come along. Those updates are rolled out staggered, depending on your region and your device model. For instance, while the Galaxy S26 gets monthly updates, the Galaxy Tab S11 gets quarterly security updates.

Samsung has recently began expanding the availability of the August 2026 security patch to the Tab S9 and the Tab S8 series across many countries, such as European countries. This is built on top of One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy Tab S9 that uses Android 16 QPR2 as the base. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab S8 stays on One UI 8.0.

This security patch has varying sizes for the tablets, and they bring the August 5th, 2026 security patch that you can see in the update info. This contains all fixes to vulnerabilities discovered since the last security patch released for these tablets.

According to the latest data, we have found the following firmware versions released for the Galaxy Tab S9:

For the Galaxy Tab S8:

• SM-X806N: X806BXXSBEZH3 [XSG]

To obtain the update, follow these steps:

1. Open the Settings app
2. Navigate to Software update
3. Tap on Check for Updates or Download and Install
4. You should be able to see the update information. Verify the version with your device model posted above.
5. Click on Download, let it download, and click on Install. Make sure that you download the update through Wi-Fi.

This security update should take 5 to 10 minutes maximum to install once your phone reboots. Make sure that you have the phone charged fully before initiating the update process to avoid interruptions. Back up your data to your PC, the cloud, or any other device in case the update went wrong. Don’t interrupt the update process, or you’ll experience problems later.
