  6. One UI 9.0 will be the last update for 2023 Galaxy devices

Previously, One UI 8.5’s rollout has excluded all Galaxy devices that were released in 2022, including the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip4, and the Galaxy Tab S8 series. This means that users who are using these devices will only receive quarterly security patches that are based on One UI 8.0 instead of the One UI 8.5 update that was anticipated at the time.

Meanwhile, devices that have already received One UI 8.5 will probably receive the One UI 9.0 update, given that they are still supported, with the latest device receiving the update in the second half of this year being the Galaxy S26 flagship series, which was released in February of this year.

Given that the rollout strategy has changed, we expect that One UI 9.0 will be the last update that will land to the following Galaxy devices:

    • Galaxy S23
    • Galaxy S23+
    • Galaxy S23 Ultra
    • Galaxy S23 FE
    • Galaxy Z Fold5
    • Galaxy Z Flip5
    • Galaxy Tab S9
    • Galaxy Tab S9+
    • Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra
    • Galaxy Tab S9 FE
    • Galaxy Tab S9 FE+
    • Galaxy A34
    • Galaxy A54
    • …and more devices released in 2023

The above devices will not be eligible for future OS generation upgrades after One UI 9.0 was released.

This version of One UI 9.0 provides several features, such as the Masking Tape feature in Samsung Notes and the enhanced quick panel that allows you to take it to the next level in your style with even more customization options.

  20. Samsung Galaxy S23 gets the One UI 7 update!

We are excited to announce that starting from today, users can now download the One UI 7 update to their Galaxy S23 smartphones as Samsung has finally released this exciting version of One UI. Your Galaxy has now become more powerful, amazing, and gorgeous as One UI 7 brings more powerful features and a redesigned appearance consisting of a simple, impactful, and emotive design.

    The firmware information states:

    • Galaxy S23: DYD9
    • Galaxy S23+: DYD9
    • Galaxy S23 Ultra: DYD9

You can see the overview of what One UI 7 brings in the above linked article at the bottom section. Meanwhile, you can see a two-minute video trailer for One UI 7 highlighting its biggest features here.

    https://youtu.be/P4AEIu3V6F4

To obtain the update, perform the following steps:

    1. Open the Settings app
    2. Navigate to Software Updates
    3. Tap on Download and Install
    4. Wait until you see One UI 7 at the top of the page, then tap on Download
    5. Wait for the download to complete, then tap on Install

After you perform the above steps, your phone will be running One UI 7 based on Android 15, and you can enjoy its new features and with many improvements on place. This makes sure that your experience gets improved.

If you still didn’t get the update for your device, wait for a few days or a few weeks, then check for updates again. If you still see “Your software is up to date,” this means that the update didn’t reach your region yet.

Note that the update process may take 15 to 20 minutes, and this can vary from device to device. The download process may incur extra charges if you’re using the cellular network as the update size is around 5 GB, depending on the device, so we recommend downloading it through Wi-Fi. Never interrupt the update process in any way, or problems may occur. Make sure that your phone gets charged before you initiate the installation process.

  21. Exclusive: Samsung Galaxy S23 devices freeze on Instagram Reels

In some regions, such as India and UAE, almost three weeks after the most recent security update has been applied to the Galaxy S23 devices, people began reporting issues regarding their devices freezing and rebooting automatically. This issue was disruptive for users, because it means that they have lost all unsaved work.

People in those regions were reporting issues related to how their Galaxy S23 devices freeze when scrolling through Instagram, especially when watching reels (short videos). Such devices would freeze, then restart abruptly after about 1 to 2 minutes. The issue was raised to Samsung Members Community by many people, including the following posts:

Some reports claim that the issue started as early as three days ago, and the latest version of Instagram that is on the Play Store at the time of the incident is 374.0.0.43.67. People tried various solutions, such as checking for Instagram updates and reinstalling it, but the problem persisted.

We speculate that it may be because there is some kind of bug in either the security update itself or the latest version of Instagram. We are hoping for the latter, but, given the nature of the issue, it looks like that the affected phones were suffering from “kernel panic” issues when scrolling reels. When an Android phone gets a “kernel panic,” it typically freezes for 1 to 2 minutes before rebooting.

We recommend that you hold off watching Instagram reels for now until either a software update (One UI 7) or an Instagram update gets released, which should hopefully resolve this issue.

  24. Comparativa entre el y

    • El grosor es ligeramente más delgado (8,6mm)
    • El altavoz se convierte en una línea
    • El SPen es plano y los botones son más planos y gruesos
    • La aleación de titanio le da muy buen acabado y textura

  25. So got my S23 Ultra a clear case with a kickstand. That kickstand is a true life changer already lol. Should have gotten that for my S20 Ultra.

Anyway, as you see I got the Lavender, and had to put a Dahyun photo card in there (Don't worry, the card is sleeve protected) :gn_twice:

  26. So, i'm thinking about buying a new phone.
Where I live, the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Iphone 14 Pro are almost the same price.
    Which one would you recommend?

FYI: I don't have other Apple products and I'm more interested in performance, watching videos/series and taking photos, mainly landscape and food photos.

  28. Sigh Samsung.

You have a great device, but whatever you are doing to prevent timely notifications for the few apps I need them for (despite allowing unrestricted battery usage and setting the apps to never sleep!) means I am going back to the iPhone.

    That's very annoying.

  29. Initially was looking to capture the city view, but as another train passed it presented a more interesting shot with the reflections.

  30. I've been stalking #butterflies in the yard with my new phone, which has 10x *optical* zoom. It's kinda nuts. These critters were 10-20 feet away and I managed to get some decent zoom snaps!

  31. There were some lovely young foxes playing at the side of the road when we were out cycling the other day and we stopped and watched them for a while until a truck came along and frightened them off. One went into the orchard and lay down. I knew it was too far to get a good photo so decided to see the capabiity of my new #S23Ultra with the 200 MP camera. Admittedly it's not a great image, but impressive just how much we can see.
    A good year for foxes.
