I had to stay over in Inverness one night this week as the bridge to Skye was closed due to the big storm.

“Storm Bram - named by Met Eireann, Ireland's equivalent of the Met Office - has been developing rapidly on Tuesday, continuing to move northwards to the west of the UK. While rain will still be falling, the strength of the winds will now be the focus.”

It remained fairly calm in the city but as I walked to my hotel the sky was anything but.

We got through the worst winds of #StormBram (which I'm pretty sure I called 'bran' yesterday🤦). No damage, no powercuts.

I've started to update my #LOTRO Yule Fest guide with what we now know officially. Full update tomorrow after the event launches.

#StormBram Fortunately the wind was so strong the horde of vampires got blown straight over without landing and may be headed for Russia. Though I was wary when I went to the village shop.

Stranger in front of me at the till said “ it’s not raining so I’ll make a break for it”. It *was* raining. Clearly a vampire. Does rain affect vampires instead of daylight?

After a couple of days shut indoors due to #stormbram the #Sheep are allowed out in the sun, for a feed of Rammaster and sugar beet. It’s still quite breezy outside but they don’t care.

@humanhorseshoes My cousin Thomas was out digging a grave with the lads in the middle of #stormbram today. He probably put a hoodie on which is usually as far as it goes when they protect themselves from the weather.

Well today was a real planes, trains, and automobiles day. Flight home from London City was cancelled. Cue a race across London to get to Gatwick airport to get a later flight home.

Now I just need some pillows :) :)

The problem for our village with named storms like #StormBram is not continuous battering, but wind gusts.

It's currently 25-30mph. Nothing much. But the gusts of ~70mph are what bring down trees, power lines and phone poles.

Power back here, but not before we got to make cheese toasties by candlelight.

Occasional electrical flickers still, which results in frequent oven-clock-resetting, with the usual pleasure/pain of trying to get it to sync with the microwave...
