  1. For today’s #Spacetober prompt EVA, or extra-vehicular activity I made a tiny astronaut on a spacewalk linocut. It’s printed on shiny paper with a pearlescent sheen.

  2. Today’s #SpacetoberChallenge is #Aeronautics! WICKED BLACKBIRD is an #illustration of the #SR71 Blackbird stealth plane. As a child, I heard sonic booms often, as SR-71s flew over my backyard north of Mt. Shasta, on a flight path out of Beale AFB. I finally saw one in person last December at Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum!

  3. I’m combining two #SpacetoberChallenge prompts: Re-entry/Landing and Space Center!

MIDNIGHT ZEPHYR, 10x13”, pearlescent #watercolor on black. Capturing the surreal final landing of shuttle Atlantis on July 21, 2011, bringing the Space Shuttle Program to a close.

  4. New Horizons was the first spacecraft to explore dwarf planet Pluto up close, arriving in 2015 after a 9 year journey. You might recall images which revealed that the surface of Pluto resembled a large heart. For #spacetober prompt New Horizons I am sharing my tiny linocut of Pluto. (It’s about the size of a Canadian twonie coin).

  5. For the #SpacetoberChallenge prompt orbit: my #linocut of #mathematician & #astronomer Johannes Kepler (1571-1630). We remember him for his role in the Scientific Revolution, & his three laws of planetary motion in particular. His laws modified Copernicus’ heliocentric model; he replaced the circular orbits with elliptical ones & described velocities of planets. Today we know them as:

  6. Day 25 of #spacetober
    Todays #spacetoberchallenge prompt is #jet

#HH111 is a Herbig-Haro object, a bright patch of nebulosity associated with newborn stars. They are formed when narrow jets of partially ionised gas ejected by stars collide with nearby clouds of gas and dust at several hundred kilometres per second.

  7. Day 24 of #spacetober
    Todays #spacetoberchallenge prompt is #spacehistory

This image of a pair of interacting galaxies called #Arp273 was taken in celebration of Hubble's 21st anniversary in 2011.

#Hubble was launched April 24, 1990, aboard Discovery's STS-31 mission. Hubble discoveries revolutionized nearly all areas of current astronomical research from planetary science to cosmology.

  8. Day 17 of #spacetober
    Todays #spacetoberchallenge prompt is #satellite

Here are some natural satellites: The biggest Jupiter moons Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto from the perspective of an earth like Jupiter.

  9. Day 8 of #spacetober
    Todays #spacetoberchallenge prompt is #star

HH 24-26 is a molecular cloud and star-forming region containing the Herbig-Haro objects HH 24, HH 25 and HH 26. This region contains the highest concentration of astrophysical jets known anywhere in the sky.
