Exactly one month ago, I contacted #Slideshare support to report a bug on every single embed, at least on some platforms. I included a JSfiddle link and the fix (a single line of #CSS).

The issue is still there and the responses from support have been a bit embarassing.

When my 14 y/o Twitter account was banned in 2024 after a hack, I lost all #meded posts. But in #slideshare, I found my 2017 presentation, the year after I started my off-label use of #sglt2i in kidney disease. I'm glad I got most things right back then

Cool, Slideshare suddenly flagged my slides from 2008 due to “Lurid sexual imagery”. I get you, Aphex Twin's Windowlicker cover is definitely lurid, though I wouldn't call it sexual. But to each their own kinks.

Gibt es eigentlich im #Fediverse eine in Bezug auf UX konkurrenzfähige (!) Alternative zu #slideshare und wenn nein warum eigentlich nicht und sollte man(tm) das nicht mal machen?

There are so many ads everywhere that it looks like you're on a fake site.

And I can't manage to deactivate the ai-assisted description and show my own crafted one.

The current iteration of my #website had kind of neglected #slides, so yesterday I added most of the ones I could still find. For now it's just PDF downloads.

A #SlideShare-like inline viewer could be nice. I can build something with pdf.js, but why foist the work on the client? I can do conversions ahead of time. Convert each page to individual SVGs and show carousels? Other ideas?

I stopped using #SlideShare about 3 years ago. I still have 54 slide decks up there.

Email from SlideShare this morning says all my decks will be available for anyone to download in original PowerPoint format.

I don’t share my PPTs because I have been ripped off a bunch.

I can opt out, but only one deck at a time. 54 decks. With no clear instructions.

I should have left SlideShare sooner.

#WTF Bei #Slideshare kann man seine Daten zwar herunterladen, alle Dokumente müssen aber händisch oder über das JSON File einzeln heruntergeladen werden 🤦‍♂️ und hochgeladene Dateien kann man offenbar nicht mehr von public auf private stellen. Klappt jedenfalls bei mir nicht. D'oh!

@ljrk I also don't like #SlideShare and similar services. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a direct link to the slide deck in PDF format.

@raptor I've seen more and more references to the GitHub owned #SpeakerDeck as a less-ad, better designed, free (as in beer) and download-allowing alternative to #SlideShare. However, this is mastodon – is there some federated alternative to such services?
