  5. Some damaged slides I found recently in a bush by the railway embankment. Judging by the stickers on the frame, they come from a doctor’s surgery.: joernvanselow.name/home/damage

  11. if you're a #PublicSpeaker and you're presenting something at an event and have to work with their tech instead of bringing your own… please make sure that your #slides either use a font that is widely available or have your CI font embedded. :blobcatthinkingeyes:
just witnessed someone making the mistake of not checking that in advance… and trust me: when everything suddenly is in Times New Roman and overflows left right and center you're NOT gonna have a fun time. :ablobcatknitsweats:

  13. hey, what are the hackers using for #slides these days? I used to be a #marp guy when I was using it at work but I don't use VSCode at home and feel its excessive to set up a whole Node.js environment just to turn markdown into slides

Pandoc looked fun but I can't seem to get it working, any other fun solutions?

  14. "The Stripper" is an #instrumental composed by #DavidRose, recorded in 1958 and released four years later. It evinces a #jazz influence with especially prominent #trombone #slides, and evokes the feel of music used to accompany #striptease artists. "The Stripper" reached No. 1 on #Billboard's #Hot100 chart in July 1962. It became a #goldRecord. Billboard ranked the record as the No. 5 song of 1962.

  15. Great talk by Brendan Rodhes (of Pyephem and Skyfield fame) about how Tools, Ecosystem, and importantly, Community, are key to lower the "activation energy” required to tackle problems in programming.

The talk can be well generalized into other fields, but I think it is particularly apt for computer science.

Very much worth the watch, and it works well at 2x speed with subtitles.
