  1. This is a logical development of Three Interlocking Square Prisms, but Thoki Yenn had already discovered / created / invented ‘Umulius Rectangulum’ in 1983.

    I made it from three sheets of A5 partially precreased, cut in half, folded and assembled.

    Instructions are at britishorigami.org/academic/th. The unit has some nifty moves at the end.

  7. As a high school math teacher, I have really enjoyed the functionality of Xournal++ for making tutorial videos using my graphics tablet and OBS Studio. Integrated LaTeX is great, but I still have a bit of a wishlist of features that I haven't found as plugins just yet:

    1. A proper function grapher. I used to create/import via graphfree.com, but with updates to that site it is not as user-friendly as it once was. Creating/importing from DESMOS or GeoGebra is...okay, but not as great for my use case as graphfree once was. Something more native to Xournal++ would be nice.

    2. A skeuomorphic compass tool (for Geometry construction demonstrations). I know that it does have a compass tool, but students need to see how this would work with the physical device - where to place the "pointy end" and "pencil end" of a physical compass. (my old promethean board software and some other website I can't recall had one, which was great!)

    Always looking to learn more about FOSS tools to improve my math teaching!

  9. Dank des fantastischen #nextexam schreiben meine Schüler*innen mit #GeoGebra am Rechner ihre letzte Klassenarbeit.

    Diesmal gab's nur Probleme damit, dass wir zwischenzeitlich eine neue Version runtergeladen hatten, die Schüler aber teilweise noch die alte starteten (Linux Appimage, bei einigen wenigen Windows)

    Even though this seems easier to visualise, I find some of the configurations fascinating, especially the three cuboids when three edges meet at common points, and the three cubes.

  18. Having made 6- and 8-pointed stars, the next step was to make 3- to 7-pointed stars.

    I eventually found the required proportions after more experimenting in Geogebra. For a short edge of 1 unit, the long edge needs to be 3.73, 2.41, 2.0, 1.73 and 1.6 for 3- to 7-points.

    Odd numbers of units are awkward for choosing colours: either every unit a different colour or use 2 or 3 colours.

    As the number of units goes up and beyond 10, the folded locking flap becomes tiny and almost useless.

  22. Hat jemand hier schon mal per #STACK + #JSXGraph oder #Geogebra, eine Aufgabe erstellt für #Moodle Tests, in der man graphisch eine Vektoraddition bzw. Kräfteaddition konstruieren musste per Parallelogramm?

    Ich würde gerne sehen, wie das angegangen wurde, weil ich gerne ausreizen würde was möglich ist mit STACK+ Grafik.
