#infosec folks: the #SlateAuto site allows one to create an account including your address and order info etc. But rather than having what I would consider "proper authentication" using a password or passkey, they just email you a code at every login. I don't like this, I guess for similar reasons why we're not using SMS as a second factor. Is this old man cloud-shouting on my part?

...that Slate electric pickup keeps getting more and more interesting.
I don't know that it'll ever be in my price range, but if I were somehow able to afford a $25K vehicle to turn into a camper / mini house on wheels, the Slate might be pretty high up the list, given its huge selling point of containing a 63KWh battery, which (presumably with the right options/mods) greatly reduces the need for any sort of separate power system for car camping, or just pulling up in a parking lot somewhere to work away from household activity for a few hours.

#SlateAuto has said since the beginning that they'll be a DIY-friendly & right-to-repair-supporting car company, supplying how-to videos and CAD files for all kinds of customizations. The first tutorial on their "Slate U" site has gone up: how to replace the front signal covers. Simple procedure, but the step-by-step instructions and the quality of the video walkthrough make me excited for the what's coming.

America is so starved for affordable EV options that the mere hope of a $20,000 EV drives hype cycles. #SlateAuto doesn't even have a factory yet, but people are putting down non-refundable deposits. Meanwhile, GM and Ford are scaling back their EV plans and discontinuing EVs like the Bolt. They deserve to have BYD eat their lunch.

I saw a #Slate yesterday! It was just a prototype but it was as awesome as I had hoped! I was surprised that it's actually not that small, at least as big as my Kia Soul. Can't wait to get one!
