In Schweden ist es wieder erlaubt, öffentlich Exemplare des Korans zu verbrennen. Das entschied ein Stockholmer Verwaltungsgericht und kippte damit ein Verbot der Polizei. Die beiden Antragsteller hatten mit ihren Aktionen ganz unterschiedliche Ziele verfolgt. Während einer von ihnen die Verbrennung als Islamkritik verstand, ging es dem zweiten darum, den Konflikt zwischen Schweden und der Türkei zu schüren, um den NATO-Beitritt des skandinavischen Landes zu verhindern. Für die Aufnahme in das Verteidigungsbündnis ist das Land auf die Zustimmung der Türkei angewiesen.
