V EU se podle něj každoročně zlikvidují stovky tun oblečení, které se dlouho nedařilo prodat, mělo vadu nebo jej po zakoupení na internetu zákazníci vrátili.
Zákaz se vztahuje na velké podniky s více než 250 zaměstnanci a ročními tržbami přes 50 milionů eur (zhruba 1,2 miliardy korun). Podniky nyní musejí najít způsob, jak se zbožím, které dříve likvidovaly, naložit. Mezi možnosti patří prodej tohoto zboží se slevou či na jiných trzích nebo jeho věnování charitativním organizacím, píše Deutsche Welle.
Neprodané zboží budou moci firmy zlikvidovat pouze v případě, že bude nebezpečné, poškozené či padělané, nebo pokud ho odmítnou charitativní organizace. Opatření, které EU schválila před více než dvěma lety, se v roce 2030 rozšíří také na středně velké podniky.
