"Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)" is a song written by Canadian-American musician #NeilYoung. Combined with its acoustic counterpart "#MyMyHeyHeyOutOfTheBlue", it bookends Young's 1979 album #RustNeverSleeps. The song was influenced by the #punkRock #zeitgeist of the late 1970s, in particular by Young's collaborations with the American #artPunk band #Devo, and what he viewed as his own growing irrelevance.

"Rockin' in the Free World" is a song by Canadian-American #singersongwriter #NeilYoung, released on Young's seventeenth studio album #Freedom (1989). Two versions of the song bookend the album, similarly to "#HeyHeyMyMyIntoTheBlack" from Young's #RustNeverSleeps album, one of which is performed with a predominantly #acousticArrangement, and the other predominantly electric.

Some of my introduction to Neil Young solo work courtesy of my older brother way back in the summer of ‘79. Another tune I’d play the fuck out of later on the radio here Stateside and in 2004 on our pirate radio station based in what had been Saddam Hussein’s palace in Mosul, Iraq, when I was deployed there.

#RustNeverSleeps, el disco de #NeilYoung junto a los Crazy Horse publicado el 22 de junio de 1979, es una mezcla de temas en vivo con un par de nuevas composiciones. Lo más apreciable, al menos para las posteriores generaciones que se vieron influidas por él, se percibe en la segunda parte del trabajo (aunque tampoco hay que descartar la calidad del lado acústico que lo abre) donde las guitarras distorsionadas ayudarían a sentar las bases del grunge de los 90´. Aunque, claro está, ese sonido sucio y desprolijo (gracias Norberto por la referencia) hay un trasfondo que lo enmarca: una reivindicación del rock and roll. Es que la muerte Elvis en 1977 y la llegada del punk lo llevaron a volver a mirar y ejecutar esa energía que parecía un tanto perdida.
