  1. When I *did* start, I started with the same thing the track currently sounds with: fake "water" sounds. Noise through filters, mostly, especially #QPAS. I wanted to give the impression of a seaside without actually using recordings of such (although later, in the #ProductionPhase, I did add some cassette recordings of surf, mixed low). The idea was to make it close...but not quite right. Off. Weird. Unsettling, even.

  6. I think I also added just a touch of Hydrasynth, doing a few chord stabs, at this point, and then it was done! Kind of. It felt like it needed a fair bit more ... something, but I felt it was time to move on. When I returned in my #ProductionPhase, the first thing I added was a more defined pulse. The #Benjolin was awesome, and in some spots it was all the song needed but in others... it more than meandered, it melted.

  7. The #ProductionPhase started November 16 and went through Dec 15. I started with a couple of low intensity #housekeeping days. I rendered out the songs as they stood and went through my orphaned songs folder to see if there was anything worth saving in there. I identified two likely suspects and one more that was less likely but still possible.

  8. Back to #PsychedelicGhostStories #ProductionDiary but instead of going to song-by-song breakdowns, I want to jump to the #ProductionPhase first, so I can talk about *all* elements of the song in its dedicated thread instead of splitting it across a #recording thread and a #production thread. Plus it dovetails nicely with the end of last night's thread. As always here's the album so you can listen along:
