There's a new #VCVRack paid module set from #Venom and there's this new #Benjolin module closely modelled after the #AfterLater module. I've made a nice rig in #BitwigStudio where I can perform it from my MIDI fader controller and using an FX Grid patch for signal processing of MIDI it is all very smooth and lovely to work with.

I also discovered that presently only the #VST2 plugin for #VCVRack works as expected from session to session (Clap and VST3 do some very weird and unwanted things).

So here is a 5 minute ramble into the void from this morning.

@mosgaard @doktorlond @bazkie @jwcph I think I fit in a more minimalist space where a possible new track for the Winter #BonkWave release tops out at 7-11 tracks for mixing. However, the #Benjolin patch track has a remarkably large amount of sound going on in it though.

I'm also experimenting with sticking to a limited pallet of plugins (Airwindows ConsoleLA & ToTape, VCV Rack and TUS Access Virus).

I'm nearing the point of calling this track done as I don't really want to over-polish it.

Here is a video sample of my studio in action. A pleasant and trancelike #Benjolin patch is playing through #VCVRack this could become #BonkWave

This is where I make #BonkWave and #NotBonkWave and also #HonkWave - on the display is #BitwigStudio and #VCVRack is open and showing a most excellent #Benjolin patch. This is being controlled and performed via a BCF2000 MIDI Fader Control. Sharp eyed observers may also notice that there is a French Horn track in Bitwig.

I like to perform a texture bed of sound with the Benjolin and then improvise horn lines over the top. Sometimes percussion finds its way for a time and then is removed. Or not.

Down below and in front of my keyboard is a home-made alternative ergonomic device which I call the "Wristiplinarian" - an alternating row of 25 1-inch chrome spikes affixed to a strip of black leather that I made around 27 years ago and have had at my keyboard ever since. It works a treat for keeping your wrists up and fingers depending gracefully over the keys (my #carpal #RSI has been pretty much gone the entire time it has been there).

#Benjolin time. There's a new #VCVRack patch that I've modified to use Plaits as an external drone and have mapped my MIDI Fader Control to. I am finding it to be rather fun to perform and can see this (and other performances) becoming texture beds for future #BonkWave adjacent #ElectronicMusic work.

Caution! Starts quiet and gets loud. Be kind to your ears and don't turn it up at the start.

The METSÄÄN version of the legendary BENJOLIN in eurorack format is available again. Letting the rungler run in memory of Rob Hordijk. This time with more suitable looking knobs. Compared to the original circuit this is vers. 1.6 by Forestcaver with output amplified to eurorack level . Interested?

@dtauvdiodr My dream Eurorack has a #Benjolin in it. There's also probably a #Sealegs and a #Nautilus in it too. Just a dream for the moment, but I've made a passable Sealegs in VCV Rack and there's a Benjolin there too.

I was just entering the flow state when the leak happened yesterday. Today I completed the #ElectronicMusic exercise I had started. Driving the Swam Horn #VST in #Bitwig through ExpressiveE's Touche is a dream. There will be more #BonkWave for #SwamHorns and #Benjolin

Almost done! Second to last (as of now) is "Led Astray by the Title (Cloud Mistaken for Zeppelin)" which is another benjolin-based track, this time giving the ol' boy a thorough rinsing. The song title is a play on the fact the album name is taken by many to reference Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti album. Is there a connection? Maybe a subconscious one...

@dtauvdiodr that was the angle I was thinking of. If resources allow, I would love a small outboard fx/sound source that is an AL #Benjolin 2 coupled with an Intellijel #Sealegs or a #Qbit #Nautilus (currently I use an interpretive version built in #VCVRack).

@etherdiver I just (re)discovered your YouTube benjolin video. I recently acquired a Ciat-Lonbarde "Peterlin" (Peter Blasser's take on the benjolin) and an After Later Eurorack benlolin. The documentation is great on the After Later, but I can't find anything on the "Peterlin" that documents what the knobx control or what the patch points are. Is that written down anywhere?
