What has been your most successful resource for hiring a pianist / accompanist for long distance collaboration?
No, there is no-one local. Yes, I've looked. For years. It's all country and emo-punk around here, or the actually trained musicians are working as teachers and have no free time.My first thought is to go with Fiverr, but I wondered if anyone knew of anything "better." (Or anyone specific on Fiverr?) I know there are sortof musician-exclusive Fiverr-type websites, but I'm not sure about the userbase size and general trustworthiness vs "we hyped this up but it's pretty cobwebby"…
† yes, vocalists are musicians, too — I'm just covering all my bases
PS - Not looking for "live" recording, just someone I can give sheet music w/ some directions to and have them record me a track.

My favorite song? Well, like picking a favorite child but unlike that situation, no one's feelings are gonna be hurt so... I'd say "Psychedelic Ghost Story" overall but it's close! "The Mystic Swims..." is very close for me and there's nothing I don't like.
But I guess "Dream Vessels on the River of Time" works the least well for me in hindsight.

And the #MPC of course... 85% of the effects on the album are from the MPC. I used a bunch of its plugin synths. Its #workflow and capabilities shaped the album from beginning to end. And unlike #Ableton, which is an incredible program, I am able to get into true #flowstates with the MPC.

The final key element I haven't mentioned is a #Morphagene based #ModularPatch that I used to create a performance of an old #FieldRecording I made of some kids on a tire swing. It blended in amazingly well with the wild vocal pad-meets-didgeridoo sounds that most of the track hinges on.

Typically I'll modulate the phase of the sine along with shoving it through one or more distortions/waveshapers. I probably used the Terci Ruina, but I honestly don't remember. As for the filter, I think (but again, don't actually remember; I need to take better notes) it was the #WMDevices #C4RBN but it could have been the Wasp -- those are where'd I'd reach for acid, generally speaking.

I ended up recording a four bar (power) #ChordProgression think through a bunch of effects (#phaser for sure, I think some delay, might have been a few other things; all from the infamous #Zoom #MS70CDR). I cut that up into one bar sections and built a track around it. I think I got about 2/3 of the way done writing it before I abandoned it the first time around.
