  1. Awake, asleep or drugged? This #PreRegistered study in flies by @naotsuchiya &co uses a data-driven approach to search for markers that can determine the individual performance of time-series features in distinguishing levels of #consciousness @PLOSBiology plos.io/44xzIeE

  2. Still, the results provide important pieces of evidence for #fundraising, especially since all #experiments and #hypotheses were #preregistered and all #data and #materials are publicly available. Thanks @giladfeldman for initiating the line of replications that helps us build a firm foundation for effective interventions that promote generosity!

  3. New study: 58% of studies #preregistered on #OSF before Nov 2017 have been conducted but not publicly shared. When asked why not, most authors cited lack of time or changing jobs "followed by null results & rejections during peer review." journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/... #OpenScience #ScholComm

  4. A new study estimates that 58% of studies #preregistered on #OSF before November 2017 have been conducted but not yet publicly shared. "Emails asking researchers why studies remained unpublished, logistical issues (e.g., lack of time, researchers changing jobs) were the most common cause, followed by null results and rejections during peer review."

  5. New preprint from our group: osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/hwzs

A field-experiment tested whether a brief stress management intervention could improve police performance in a simulated training exercise for police students. We found self-rated stress to be associated with lower observer-rated performance. The "tactical breathing" intervention led to improved performance. The intervention was not associated with perceiving stress as lower.

  6. Alpha oscillations shape sensory processing, but do they also modulate the perception of #pain? This #preregistered study by @ploner &co found no evidence for a causal relationship between alpha oscillations and pain perception #plosbiology plos.io/42r0F4u

  7. Very happy to see this paper published
    bmcpublichealth.biomedcentral.

Inspired by a seminal study in medicine* we piloted methodology to investigate researcher #DecisionMaking & accepting industry funding.

The process of getting this paper to the right audience and out there, took a while.

Using this in workshops usually helps people to bond -- Fellow researchers, and especially #ECRs, you/we are not alone! 😉

  8. Young infants are sensitive to social context: Our #preregistered paper with Sahura Ertugrul, Emely Reyentanz & Vanessa Thomas just got published in Developmental Science @WileyPsychology #EarlyChristmasPresent #OpenScience
    doi.org/10.1111/desc.13468

The paper shows that infants inhibit gaze to strangers even if their neural responses show that they are attentive to / interested in the stranger. The same pattern we find in adults.

  13. The #COVID patients don't appear to have thought differently about risk, although more of them had been abroad and in contact with infected people. They may have complied less to infection control measures, but memory and reporting artefacts should be taken into account.

The study was part of the #PANDRISK project, and in collaboration with Rebecca Cox, Dagrun Linchausen and Sebastian Bjørkheim. The study was #preregistered and #OpenData are provided.

  23. I just updated a #preprint from a couple of years ago (mostly edited for readability): psyarxiv.com/f9382

We wanted to see if medical students making #diagnoses would show a #PrimacyBias, #ConfirmationBias and #overconfidence. We did three #preregistered classroom experiments. Results were... mixed. (1/4)
