    I do love Null results.*

Nevertheless, a good theoretical background is important (and ideally written down before the results are known).

It should be clear what an effect could look like.

  3. I use the #OSF #preregistration tool extensively, but I don't find the online form suitable for drafting. Online collaboration, commenting, track changes, and version history is not possible. I've had bad experiences with simultaneous editing and the wrong user finalizing preregs as administrator.

In our lab we've transferred the online form to a Word file that we use an online file to plan the preregistration before copying it into the OSF form. It's available here in case it could be useful for others: osf.io/ufzra #OpenScience

  4. Signed. And featured in my #PeerReview seminar yesterday.

I don't think that this is only about #PreRegistration.

One of our #RCTs received this year a 2.5k word review which did not refer to the #registration, statistical analysis plan, protocol, nor submitted appendices 🤦🤷

Also extrapolating from the style of that review:
How much anger and frustration that person could have avoided.

  5. Exploratory hypothesis testing:

Nice to see that our article “Exploratory hypothesis tests can be more compelling than confirmatory hypothesis tests” (doi.org/10.1080/09515089.2022.), which was published 4 months ago, is the most read article in @PhilosophicalPsychology in the last 12 months: tandfonline.com/action/showMos

  6. @d2ns I'm all for open access but I do think #openpeerreview isn't really realistic. It's hard enough for journals to find reliable punctual reviewers. Fewer people will be willing to review work when it means they'll invite scrutiny and critiques of their review.

#PreRegistration isn't relevant in #ethnographic work. It's far closer to the role of a deeply embedded reporter than wet lab tech.

#OpenData of qualitative runs into ethical issues. Can't publish 3k interviews about sexual assault
