  1. People of Dubious Character Are More Likely To Enter #PublicService

A new working paper from researchers at the University of #HongKong has found that #Chinese graduate students who #plagiarized more heavily in their master's theses were significantly more likely to pursue #careers in the #civilService and to climb the ranks faster once inside.

  2. I'm nervous before every talk I give. I review my points and check references because I want to be true to the subject and audience. and I know that some in the audience are going to not trust me because I'm a #blackman and think that I've #plagiarized if my talk is "too good." #trump is not so encumbered. winging it is fine and if you get caught in a #lie double down and make a bigger one.

    Ok, I have a #confession: I didn't write these! I totally #plagiarized it from an old song 😳

  4. A #fake #journal, algorithmic plagiarism and tricking #Google #Scholar

    >A case of a fake journal that was picked up by Google Scholars bots and #algorithm, containing articles that were completely #plagiarized but assigned new titles, abstracts and authors.

  5. I am about to write a #PubPeer post exposing a #Wiley -published #academic book chapter (and likely the whole book) where I can prove the entire content is #plagiarized, likely using a synonym-swapping algorithm.

But I don't want to get sued, or be unethical. I will notify the two #publishers of course, but does anyone have any other pointers?

  6. Alternate title: “How to get shoved onto the tube tracks in one opinion column or less…”

Still wondering how it is people cannot grasp 1) there’s no “ intelligence” in these so-called #AI system, 2) the output is composed/composited from #stolen/ #plagiarized #source #data,

And, lastly. 3) how Marriot can’t grasp he’s just a useful idiot pushing some #billionaire’s #enrichment agenda.

  7. I've been mulling how #chatGPT might affect my teaching and been mulling the potential for increased #AcademicIntegrity violations. I try to prioritize critical thinking and #ProjectBasedLearning, which should make it harder. My concern is differentiating between students who were not invested/paying attention and students who #plagiarized AI. So I fed it what I think is my most cheatable assignment and I'm...not that worried anymore. (1/x)

  8. I have been #plagiarized in what appears to be a peer-reviewed article. I'm cited, but close to a full paragraph is straight-up copy-pasted into this person's article, and that's just what I've skimmed.

    Do I...do something?
