Poetry publisher ~
Poetry Submission Requirements:
A poetry submission consists of five poems (in English).
ALERT: We get far too many submissions with just one poem. Or entire book of poems. Such submissions aren't evaluated, alas. We want five (cinco, fünf , 五, paanch, ஐந்து) of your poems. Not more, not less.

ICYMI: Digital Content Next says Google must now deliver ad tech fixes it promised: Kint argues auction data, not display revenue, was the prize. Publishers wait 14 days for the sealed opinion and 30 for a joint judgment. Will it be enforced? https://ppc.land/digital-content-next-says-google-must-now-deliver-ad-tech-fixes-it-promised/ #DigitalMarketing #AdTech #GoogleAds #Publishers #AuctionData

Update. Another article made it through peer review (this time at #JAMA Network) asserting that the #NIH policy requires NIH-funded authors to pay #APCs.
"Cost of Article Processing Charges to Adhere to National Institutes of Health Public Access Policy."
http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/jamainternmed.2026.3463
(#paywalled)The authors are actually confused and inconsistent on this point. On the one hand, they make clear that compliance through PubMed Central (#PMC) is free of charge. On the other, they say (in Table 1) that green OA articles needn't pay APCs to comply with the older NIH policy but must pay APCs to comply with the new NIH policy.
PS: Some publishers -- like Springer Nature and Taylor & Francis -- do charge APCs to NIH-funded authors to publish in their journals, and don't let those authors publish in their no-APC non-OA journals. They even frame those APC-based paths to publication as ways to comply with the NIH policy. But the NIH policy requires deposit in PMC (#GreenOA), which is free of charge. These publishers are charging APCs to publish in their journals, which is entirely optional and not required by any policy.

@EricLawton For many years, the #bookMarket is a shark pool.
When my literary agent started to look out for a contract, he always had to show first: how prominent I was (bad points), how many followers I had on which platforms, if I could bring blurbs from very famous people/contacts to media, if I was a good actor for events. All that before they had a look on what I wrote.
It got worse when very big corporations bought independent #publishers. -
"Back in April, bestselling #author #MegKeene came on #TheJewishAngle—with some reluctance—to talk about what she saw as a growing problem for #Jewish #writers in mainstream #publishing. She spoke about being quietly pressured from agents, #publishers and industry insiders to change Jewish characters’ names and hide #Israeli backgrounds or connections.
But rather than be excommunicated from the publishing world, her inbox filled up with messages from writers and publishers in the same situation. She’s since worked with the #AntiDefamationLeague and an offer from the publishers at #WickedSon to start her own imprint, #MegKeeneBooks.
Now #Keene is on a mission to #publish around four Jewish #fiction #books over the next year, from romance to thriller."

Explaining remnant: Remnant is publisher ad inventory left unsold after direct deals close, priced by auction instead of a rate card and filled by exchanges, networks or house ads. https://ppc.land/remnant/ #DigitalMarketing #ProgrammaticAdvertising #AdTech #RemnantInventory #Publishers

Google gives publishers a new way to fight AI-driven traffic losses
Google is giving publishers a new button that lets readers make them a preferred source across Search, Discover, and Google News, potentially boosting their traffic as AI search sends fewer clicks to the web.

Having seen research from many different angles – as a clinician, #researcher, trial manager – she knows that every manuscript represents years of work by real people
#Technology can help #publishers handle growing volumes of research, spot patterns, make processes more efficient – it can speed up good science & reduce routine tasks. But it cannot replace the human judgement, accountability & shared responsibility that scholarly publishing relies on.Interview by Tim Gillett

it was the nature of clinical practice itself.
Every manuscript represents years of work
#Integrity is no longer just an ethical issue. #Publishers have a unique responsibility
However, Shilpi is equally clear that publishers cannot view integrity as someone else’s problem. They are the “gatekeepers”, she says, that responsibility extends beyond editorial workflows.

CW: AI, LLM, Anthropic Copyright Infringement
Apparently #Anthropic has been ordered to pay ca. $1.5 billion for #copyright #infringement on about 500K #books they used to train #Claude along with the order to destroy any #unauthorized copies & #pirated files they possess:
Considering the amount of money they stand to make from Claude's continued existence, this seems like little more than a slap on the wrist to me. Also, I find it hard to believe how it will be possible to enforce the order to destroy the illicit files.
