With the #Photobucket shenanigans, I have decided to preserve mine. It was easy enough to delete the few images of real human beings I had in there.
The rest, though, is why I'm leaving it up. It it filled to the brim with stylized game characters, my personal sprites, and, most deliciously of all, the incredibly fucked-up semi-human face of Kieran from Lands of Lore which is probably juuuust human enough to serve as adversarial content. 😈

Any folks who still have an ancient #photobucket account should consider deleting it by July 22nd when they start profiting from selling your uploaded photo libraries to AI data brokers.
To continue using photobucket, you must agree to #photobucket’s TOS which will allow #PB to gather your biometric data as well as use all your uploaded photos for AI training, or you can simply agree to Account Deletion on login.
The second is obviously the best and only option going forward.
It actually feels great to purge all these old apps. So long Photo*uckit!

so... Photobucket is going to sell / use user content, including biometrics etc, and if you want to delete your account you have first AGREE to the new ToS to sign in. Wtf. The contact form / support request form may or may not be broken, so yeah.

I got this email from #photobucket (official image bros to #twitter #x) after having deleted my account - never used - in 2022, with pb ‘confirmation’ by email.

I slagged google in error on this - corrected.
Photobucket was founded in 2003 by Alex Welch and Darren Crystal and received funding from Trinity Ventures.[9][10] It was acquired by Fox Interactive Media in 2007.
In December 2009, Fox's parent company, News Corp, sold Photobucket to Seattle mobile imaging startup Ontela. Ontela then renamed itself Photobucket Inc. and continues to operate as Photobucket.[11]

Can’t even remember if my account is still active (did I try to delete & fail?), whether it was ever more than one post & abandon as I searched for the then best spot to share pictures, etc., or which mega-corporate ‘value’ extractor owns this particular ‘service’ at present.

I cannot begin to explain to the folks at #Photobucket how little I care about my account being deleted and how even littler I care about hearing from them.
You ruined a perfectly good service, your continued existence is not my problem.

I have contacted #Photobucket and asked for a copy of my old photos under UK #GDPR, which they refused to provide despite being required to do so. This is a simple breach of the law.

#Photobucket deactivated my free account without warning. Mind you I hadn’t used it in years, though I did download what few pics I had a few months ago. They said they dropped the free account. That’s their right, but it sure would’ve been nice if they’d given me a warning and time to download. Even if I hadn’t downloaded, I still had all those images. I did get emails my account was marked inactive but nothing about the free level going away. Jerks.
