  3. The more typical performance style of this piece is by military marching bands (Mehter band). Heck, I'm sure I saw one of these bands play it when I was in Istanbul a decade ago.

  4. Here's the piece in question from Cantemir's collection, "Ambassador's Peshrev", by ney player Kudsi Erguner. Someone said it has a distant resemblance to a certain klezmer tune which is why I was looking up versions of it.

  5. Youtube algorithm recommended this tearjerker of a #bouzouki song to me 😭 in some ways it's quite minimal but very melancholic. The opening reminds me of Metallica "Nothing Else Matters," although of course this pattern is pretty basic and universal.
