  1. When I first heard about the pool draining fiasco at Mar-a-Lago, I thought there’s no way anyone could be stupid enough to try to do that to cover up evidence. But the new charges sure make it look a lot more like the pool was intentionally drained into the server room.

  6. I dunno @zdl. Not because I'm an #openargs zelot, or I'm a #wotc schill... but I'm willing to give WoTC the B.O.t.D. This was a #leak after all. Clause 12b, and the subsequent clarification seems like a "yeah, our LAWYERS wrote that, but this is a DRAFT and not what we intended. Even WE agree its an overreach."

Disney aggressively protects their IP. WoTC has shown 20+ years of being _generous_ with theirs, Im willing to give them the BOtD. They gotta have their ham sandwich too ya know.

  7. @zdl " The new OGL will contain provisions to address that risk, but we will do it without a license back and without suggesting we have rights to the content you create. Your ideas and imagination are what makes this game special, and that belongs to you."

Since that "they can take our stuff!" seemed to be the big thing that the comm was in a twist over.... seems like a nothingburger to me now.

  8. @zdl - however, in Thursday's episode they did make mention of the #ogl clause 12b where #wotc had the "license back" clause - i.e. they get to use YOUR stuff that you made based on THEIR stuff irrevocably and perpetually. #wotc has already walked that back (as #openargs said the community should fight for):

  9. Interesting - @zdl - in yesterday's episode, #openargs actually delved into the reaction to their analysis on the #ogl #gizmodo article. They also talked about their disagreement w/ Legal Eagle. But they've convinced at least ME (not being a lawyer) that

    - the gizmodo article was a factually incorrect hit piece
    - the ogl is NOT (despite what the writer 'intended') a free software copy-left open source agreement, so WoTC can do exactly what they did.

  10. If you're a D&D fan (as I am), and you're frothing at the mouth over recent WoTC changes to the OGL, you REALLY need to listen to the latest episode of Opening Arguments where they cast Comprehend Lawyer (1a, self, 1hr) and break down the actual legalese in the changes to the OGL and contrast with claims in Linda Codega's article .

    TL;DR - its a NOTHINGBURGER and Gizmodo's "leakspose" is a hit piece.

  15. after Alito abomination leaked last night Andrew (lawyer) read it & #OpenArgs breaks it down in an hourlong emergency episode

draft is as bad & unhinged as you think, abortion will be gone & the same convoluted gaslighting can get rid of birth control & really all forms of marriage

Andrew wonders if leak is from Ginny Thomas passing draft around

Thomas (comedian) points out the draft depends heavily on the legal theory of 'pull it out of Alito's posterior'

  17. OA529: The Weird Al Deep-Dive We Didn’t Know We Desperately Needed

  18. The #OpeningArguments podcast is going to cover Weird Al and parody in tomorrow's episode

    openargs.com/

A lawyer and a comedian cover legal topics. Last week they made a comment about #WeirdAl and apparently got lots of feedback asking to cover him and the legal aspects of parody

They're also covering a (sample?) bar exam, one confusing question an episode
