  1. Podcast w/ immigration lawyer on messed
up racist immigration coverage from the New York Times

NYT got Canadian immigrant to complain that Biden wasn't fascist enough against immigrants, claims Biden wouldn't break enough laws and make dehumanizing immigration policies

NYT says Biden did too much, yet was paralyzed while doing so

Republicans caved to Trump and killed bipartison immigration bill, NYT blames Biden

  2. I need an anti-shouting audio filter for my podcasts. I don't want to drop #OpeningArguments, but the non-lawyer host keeps stressing me out.

  3. Opening Arguments podcast is starting to cover supreme courts cases that were actually good

Last week they covered "The Most Important LGTBQ Rights Case You’ve Never Heard Of"

It's a 1950s ruling that paved the way for some of the recent wins we've had ( that Thomas and Alito haven't yet been able to obliterate )

  4. @Natasha_Jay Me, after listening to law news podcasts on an average day… #OpeningArguments

  5. This was a stray thought I had while reading How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom when the MC is asked by a world superpower if he wants an invading country's leader's head as compensation. MC, who was an aspiring Japanese civil servant before being summoned to sword and fantasy world, insisted on monetary damages. #GenKoku en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_a_Re

The situation triggered some #OpeningArguments memories in which specific performance and monetary damages came up during #T3BE bar exam questions.

  6. Friday's #OpeningArguments reminds us many people weren't fired by Musk and Trump

Illegal efforts to fire head of special counsel, Hampton Delllinger, were illegal. Reporters should say "attempted firing" or "purported to fire" and point out that the attempted firing was unlawful

Same goes for actions against the inspectors general

  7. "Rudy Giuliani and the Possibly the Worst Legal Document Ever Filed" is almost 2 hours of a comedian and lawyers laughing at Giuliani's "don't find me in contempt" filing, well one of them

  8. A transcript of “A 9/11 Lawsuit No One Is Talking About Reveals Deep Saudi Complicity”, an #OpeningArguments episode I found interesting about Ashton et. al v. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in which 9/11 victims may eventually win a lawsuit and damages in the Southern District of New York against Saudi Arabia for facilitating the 9/11 attacks. 9. Before the #podcast fell apart, I was listening to #OpeningArguments four days a week. The hosts did a great job of presenting difficult topics in a way that was engaging and informative. I weirdly miss bar exam questions.

After it fell apart, I stopped listening to all of the podcasts each host was associated with and have been making an effort to diversify the podcasts I listen to. Strict Scrutiny and 5-4 have been a good start. Do you have any #podcastrecommendations to share?

  10. This #OpeningArguments saga is deeply disappointing in so many ways. I was sickened by AT’s lawyerly non apology when I listened (and unsubscribed) this morning.

It gives me some comfort to see OA’s Patreon subs nosedive over the past week. The pod closed January with around 4500 subs. As of just a few moments ago it is down under 2600 and falling.

I was never a Patreon sub for OA, but I’m now a proud top tier patron for SIO. patreon.com/seriouspod

  11. CNN—The preliminary stage of the #trial of five #ProudBoys charged with #seditious #conspiracy related to the 2021 US Capitol attack has been a chaotic wind-up that included contentious #fights during jury selection, #debates over evidence and defense lawyers threatening to withdraw from the case.
But while #openingarguments are expected Thursday, the bickering in the courtroom is likely to continue.

  12. #OpeningArguments #T3BE 310 - It's B or C. The question is testing strict or intermediate scrutiny, and since it's like a content-neutral restriction on speech I think it's intermediate scrutiny. Final answer, C: it is not unconstitutional if it relates to job performance. Second chance, if job performance in the public sector is not an "important governmental interest" then it's strict scrutiny, B. openargs.com/

  13. @TheDinosaurDave Here from your post on the FB group. That's me suggesting you post your full address if you want to drag Andrew over.

    Also, excellent #LEGO #dinosaurs.

  14. Anyone out there looking for a good legal podcast, focusing on breaking down the law in ways nonlawyers can understand. Check out #OpeningArguments. It's really really good at making legal nonsense make sense
Oh, #T3be - A) because I figure the first guess on here should probably be from a non lawyer with no actual answer.
    Anyway enjoy the show.

  17. Andrew and Thomas go through a new Eastman docs dump, it might involve giggling

it's amazing how incompetent the insurrections are, yet scary about how close they came to overthrowing the government

  19. The #OpeningArguments podcast is going to cover Weird Al and parody in tomorrow's episode

    openargs.com/

A lawyer and a comedian cover legal topics. Last week they made a comment about #WeirdAl and apparently got lots of feedback asking to cover him and the legal aspects of parody

They're also covering a (sample?) bar exam, one confusing question an episode

    #OpenArgs #podcast

  20. The #KrakenLawyers were hit with lots of sanctions!

#OpeningArguments #podcast covered it today, the judge is recommending a bar review in every state they practice law and including remarks that they're all openly profitting from the fraud. The #kraken #soon-to-be-ex lawyers have to pay all the legal fees. The judge says the kraken lawyers are responsible, period

Also, there's a $5 mln judgement against Jacob Wohl and John Burkman for their electioniering robocalls

Claiming you have a video showing someone admitting they broke the law is not an opinion, either you have the video or you don't

#OpeningArguments #podcast goes over #Kraken responses in Dominion's defamation suit

Andrew covers the incompetences of the defenses, entertainingly

Apparently one of the claims somewhere was that Prescott Bush and others helped build the NAZI state in the 1930s
