ok #apple friends, looking to avoid a trip to the #geniusbar here.
Doing some FriendsNFamily #techsupport on a 2013 macbook (A1502). Sidestepping the reason why it won't power on or diagnosing power issues (I don't have the tools or the charger for that), I have the drive out (I had one of those proprietary NVME enclosures from a different problem) and have cloned it to an image file on my linux machine w/ ddrescue. I can see the partitions in the image courtesy of fvde, but the HFPS+ partition has been filevaulted.
Friends are trying to recall the pwd or dig up the filevault unlock code, but w/o that we're kinda SOL right? i.e. there's no magic Apple FileVault backdoor hack?
(we're not talking state secrets or nuclear codes here, just files "it would be nice to have back, if possible") -
