  1. RE: mas.to/@tezoatlipoca/116263075

    Well, I had to give up on the #rsync approach - rsync over #MTP seemed to have issues with copying some file metadata that rsync would need to handle incremental updates. Subsequent rsyncs would re-copy _everything_. Boo.

    Likewise using #android usb-debug mode and `adb push` (android debug tool on linux) also only re-copies everyting.
    I could use #termux on the phone to provide an actual rsync or ssh host on the phone (which would also let me use wifi). Or..

    User experience made the iPod.

    There were plenty of MP3 players on the market—memory sticks with a battery, a hole for a headphone jack, and some playback software, for a fraction of the cost.

  7. @tezoatlipoca not a self-jostler here, but what would think of #YggdrasilNetwork nodes "on both ends", just for admin?

  8. And since Pelmorex is providing the #AlertSystem without a revenue stream, they're pretty unresponsive when there are problems.

    Our #CommunityRadio station is required to carry the alerts, but when we noticed their feed was down the only response I got from their tech was "Works For Me". It got fixed a few months later, but it left us vulnerable to the CRTC's wrath during that time.

    Not that a public service would do any better...

  9. RE: mastodon.hongkongers.net/@cbco

    I don't know how I feel about this.

    Floating a new bank... to help #NATO member states finance their #military #procurement.

    dsrb.org/what-is-the-dsrb

    I can _kind_ of see how this fits. Each #defense department can see their budget balloon or shrink depending on ever changing political tides; yet procurement takes decades.

    But I'm still not sold on the idea of having a financial middle player - even if it IS owned by member states - nosing into federal military procurement. :/

  10. New process. Need approval for a $$thing

    Get directed to SVP. Noticed SVP is OOF till next week.

    Send email to SVP asking for 15 minutes _next week_ when available.

    SVP phones back _immediately_.
    I start to lay out rationale; he cuts me off "I know all about it. What is the ROI?" I pull #s off the top of my head. "Those numbers don't make sense." Whups I meant other #. "You call me and you don't have the right numbers? Stop wasting my time."

    Sigh. Dude, if next week I woulda prepared.

  15. I frequently see this pop up and I chuckle:

    A #SQA person walks into a bar and orders:

    * a pint of beer
    * 2 pints of beer
    * 0 pints of beer
    * 999999999 pints of beer
    * a lizard
    * -1 pints of beer
    * qwertyuip pints of beer

    The first real customer walks into the bar and asks where the restrooom is. The bar bursts into flames and everyone dies.

  19. @alienmelon

    So true. Larger ARC (alien death robots) in #arcraiders drop metallic cores which you can whack with your raider tool (not a #euphanism) and play a pick up game of field hockey. Fun.

  20. @jalefkowit uh. not building shit is what we're doing.

    I kept putting off an upgrade due to money and everytime I scratched up enough, the prices went up, and every year I thought well maybe next year; nope got worse.

    My game rig is now a decade old (6700k+1080).
    Im forced to play #arcraiders on the #playstation .

    Send donations. Every bit helps. For just $4.00, that's the price of a cup of coffee, a day, you can help PC gamers who can't afford to upgrade not have to use a controller.

  21. RE: infosec.exchange/@SecureOwl/11

    @SecureOwl has been doing an experiment, these past weeks.

    When #websites/ #platforms delete your #account sometimes they get lazy and just overwrite your email with `deleteduser.com` or similar - a fictitious domain that they use to indicate "a deleted account". But what if someone actually owned that domain?

    The results are hilarious, illuminating... and frightening. Read from the beginning: infosec.exchange/@SecureOwl/11

    I hearby rebrand as `Crypto Forest`, the all-digital #bank that works for you! Featuring our in-house token $TREEkoinZ. Invest now and watch your dollarydoos 3xpl0de (possibly into green confetti).

    _Yet another #crypto bank? WHat does CF offer that the other guyz don't?_

    $5 fees. Everything costs $5 regardless of transaction. $5 is $5. Is $5 a lot? sometimes, but at least it will only ever be $5.
