In case anyone else was wondering, the inclined lifts in the Tyne Pedestrian and cyclist tunnel still aren't working.
And judging from the doors at either end, my #CargoBike won't fit in them even when they are running.

Why can’t the BBC (national, not local news) stop reporting that Sam Fender is from #Newcastle ? He’s not. #NorthShields
If someone was from Croydon it wouldn’t be reported as London, would it? Is it really beyond southern media to report accurately on items in the north?

The Sir James Knott Memorial Flats on Tynemouth Road, overlooking the mouth of the Tyne, in North Shields and close to Tynemouth, were opened in 1939. Notably, the flats were built with the threat of war in mind, constructed with fire-resistant materials and with large cellars for use as air-raid shelters.

This is a great little pub in #NorthShields, near the fish quay.
It had a recent refit and rebrand (I forget its former name), which sadly reduced the space available as they closed the upper floors. But getting served is so much faster, as they now have all the same staff behind the downstairs bar!
Someone mentioned that staff *do* occasionally disappear, only to be replaced by identical folx; but I've never noticed it happening.
The best thing is that their prices keep dropping each month!

Had a really nice day taking the kids in the #CargoBike down to South Shields.
A relief to confirm it does fit on the Shields ferry - the conductor slid the door open wider and there was loads of space inside.
We went to The Word and then along the seafront, but got a puncture on the way back! Fortunately, I managed to push it to AS Cycles, which turns out to be a really good old-fashioned shop, and got back on the road in no time, now with a spare inner tube and pump in the bucket.
Getting back up the hill from Tynemouth pier was a struggle, but with the kids chanting "you can do it" (and full motor assist) I did it!
Used just over half the battery, over 30km. -
