The Linux Audio Conference 2026 will take place from 18 to 20 June 2026 at Maynooth University in Ireland!
Very much looking forward to it already! This will be the second time the LAC will be held in Maynooth, first time was in 2011. Great memories of that LAC!
More info soon!

To get an idea of how the current version of Zita-AT1 sounds like, I did a live performance with it at LAC2017 in Saint Etienne.

Fons did mention that Zita-AT2 probably has somewhat higher latency.

Can't wait for Zita-AT2 to come out! The demos were just very impressive. Fons used Will Godfrey's isolated voice from one of his songs and ran it through Zita-AT2 to showcase its possibilities. For this version Fons used a completely different approach because he wanted to release a version that maintains formants.

Let's see if I can find the original score somewhere.

For the record, #LAC2025 is NOT sponsored by VLC even though it might look like it.

"The usual suspects will turn this into a LV2 plugin"
Quote of the day by Fons Adriaensen regarding his tape emulation project as an answer to the question if any samples were available.

So would it be an idea to have the L refer to Libre instead of Linux? So a Libre Audio Conference, open to everyone who wants to submit a talk, presentation, workshop or performance about or created with open source audio software?

Yesterday we had a small discussion about the future of the Linux Audio Conference. Two main questions arose:
- Anybody willing to organize any possible next edition?
- Should we impose any restrictions on what could be submitted?Especially the second question spurred some debate because it touches a broader underlying sentiment: should the L in LAC represent more than just Linux?

During Giso Grimm's talk about OVBox he mentioned that he had similar issues when using a newer kernel on a Raspberry Pi 4 and a Focusrite USB interface. Maybe enabling implicit feedback would help in his case too so hopefully we can take a look at that some time during the conference.
-
One thing that changed throughout the kernel development cycle is the way USB audio interfaces are being handled. Somewhere along the line an esoteric setting called implicit feedback was introduced and by default it's disabled. I ran into issues myself (see https://autostatic.com/tag/ideapad/), I couldn't do proper low latency stuff. But when I enabled implicit feedback the dropouts were gone and now I can go as low as 32 frames.

The floor is yours @thisven ! I really like the angle of the talk, fits the conference very well. Architectural challenges when doing open source projects from an academic point of view. Great subject and well presented. Hats off sir!

Oh wow, learned a lot from Robin's workshop, very inspiring. I'm definitely going to dive into Lua scripting to streamline my Ardour workflow.

Robin's workshop "Ardour Lua Scripting" has kicked off!

We like to apologize to the #INSA students we disturbed with our singing and playing. We were unaware that there were people studying close to us. Thanks for notifying us!

Now it's Fernando's and Nils' (CCRMA) turn. In my opinion this should have been the keynote. It's about Linux, audio (and video), the ongoing battle with hardware vendors, looking for solutions and explaining their journey.
And it's being presented on a Linux machine.

The banquet was awesome. It was great to see everyone again and we had a good time with Auvergne style burgers served with local beer from the Auvergne too.

And stuck at Rotterdam station... My transfer is delayed by over an hour but I can take the first next train which departs half an hour later. And I had half an hour to switch trains in Brussels...
So now I have to change my tickets in Brussels, first the one to Paris Nord but then also the one from Paris Gare de Lyon to Lyon Part Dieu.
Oh well, at least I have my favorite muesli buns.

Have any of you #linuxaudio #linuxmusician (s) ever been to the #lac #linuxaudioconference?

Yesterday at the #Aktivkongress I co-hosted a workshop about #MediaProduction with #FreeSoftware and #OpenSource focusing on #audio and #music creation, editing and mixing.
@phil and me introduced fundamentals on #acoustics and talked about the #AlgoRave genre, for example. Additionally, we referred to #meetings and annually #events such as #OSAMC, #LinuxAudioConference, and the international #Sonoj convention in #Cologne at October, 7th & 8th this year https://sonoj.org
We showed how to use #software such as @ardour, #Ocenaudio and @mixxx. If we got your attention and you'd like to learn more, contact us. Up to now there is a German-only write-up but most of the buzzwords and links may support in your further research anyway.
